Non-literal, especially metaphorical, language is clearly confusing and stupid, so why do people still use it?

I don't agree with you on this. Metaphors are also a beautiful way of connecting two very unrelated scenarios to bring about a very beautiful or an unprecendented relationship between them. Sometimes the plain description of an object fails to invoke the adequate amount of emotions within the reader as the article/poem required. Metaphors perform this task effortlessly. And using metaphors in everyday life is my favorite activity. But if you use metaphors too much, people will think you're coming out of a Shakespearean novel.

I kind of agree. Polish ones are even dumber and my mom always gets mad when I mocked them. But I've always been one to prefer literal language. I'll use metaphors and idioms just because everyone else does, but really I hate then too. Why can't people just talk normal?
