What does the Ocean 🌊 smell like to you? What do you like best about going there?

I remember it to smell salty and a bit fishy. I am talking about the Pacific Ocean 🌊

When I lived four miles from the ocean, I went sailing with my pups. We went crabbing. One day my main sail wasn't connected properly, and it slowly started sliding down the mast. I did my best to keep my poker face on, but my poodles knew something wasn't right. The tide was pulling us to China, but we managed to get home on just a half mast sail.

I took a sailing class, because I didn't understand how you can sail into the wind. The Hawaiian dude explained it quite well. Imagine pinching a watermelon seed between your thumb and forefinger. Your thumb is forcing the seed to go one way, and your forefinger wants it to go the other way.

That poor watermelon seed just wants to get the hell out of there, so it splits the difference and escapes. That's all there is to sailing. You make a compromise with the wind.

I was on the fence about buying my little sailboat, so I asked advice from my sailor friend.

Me: Bill, why did you choose a sailboat over a motor boat.

Bill: Because I wanted to sail.

Me: But couldn't you get there quicker with a motor?

Bill: Get where?

Me: There!

Bill: When you're in a sailboat, you're already there!

He was right and I bought the boat the next day. lol

it Smells Like Fish Spirit...what I like the best is when I can be there by myself or in very good company... then I'd enjoy the solitude or a heck of a great time... lol

Salty, seaweed and sometimes fishy to me but it’s nice only being 10 minutes away from it

Yeah during the winter, get plenty of snow during late December To February but last year not much

I think I know the smell you are referring to. It smelled like oil to me sometimes. Who knows. You are fortunate you are near the Ocean. I am really missing it lately.

I live by a beach. There is a salty tang and a fetid decomposing seaweed combo.
