I've wanted to try to find a partner since I gave up five years ago, but have also come to the conclusion it's not worth it, especially due to my ongoing health problems. Who would want to go out with someone knowing that they can't drive and at any moment could have a seizure?

I was recently offered a new job as a senior engineer to work at a computer graphics company in New Zealand. Currently I work for an American company located in Los Angeles remotely here from Japan.
It was very tempting since I really miss working in the office and seeing my colleagues. Working entirely remotely comes with the benefit that I have a very flexible schedule and can even treat weekdays sometimes like weekends provided I still get my work done, write up weekly reports, and meet deadlines, but I have a very difficult time motivating myself to work hard every day on my own. I've been developing a bad procrastination habit in recent years of constantly falling behind my work and then catching up which I didn't have when I worked in the office with my peers.
They also offered a substantially higher salary than mine and I actually love the company and their products (they have an amazing real-time path tracer which is state-of-the-art).
The problem is that I'd have to move to New Zealand. I tried to negotiate to see if I could work for them remotely as I do now and they required me to move there (although they did offer to pay for all the associated expenses).
Just last year, my sister and her husband and daughter moved very close to where I lived to stay with me. She said it's just because she missed living in Japan but I think it had to largely be in part to stay close to me since there's no other reason for her to move so close to where I live. That was a huge life change for her and her family, so for me to just pick up and go to New Zealand with my wife seems too selfish.
It's also asking too much of my wife who is a book editor and publisher here in Japan with a major in Japanese Literature. She might have difficulty finding such work in New Zealand publishing and editing books in Japanese.
So as tempting as it was, I ended up declining the offer.
