What Girls & Guys Said

I do have a vivid recollection of something I said when I met someone for the first time. I mixed up the syllables and instead of saying "pleased to meet you", I said "meased to pleet you".
I burst out laughing and since then, whenever I meet someone new, I have to make a mental rehearsal of that sentence in order to avoid making the same mistake over again. Those people that were with me when it happened, just opened their eyes wide and that poor person I was addressing did not fully grasp at first what the entire commotion was all about.
college... English class
teacher said as with a bit of an accent... and I just instantly thought aloud, and also spoke a bit too loud
ass?and then, she giggled, and kind of corrected to "as" although... she might not have said it wrong, but I just questioned it... so she clarified and laughed, lol
I have a history of misunderstanding words, all the way back to when I was a kid. This pertains to the lyrics of songs. But there was never anything "funny" about it
