Neighbours upset that I wouldn't let male neighbour in to use the bathroom in the middle of the day when hubby was at work AITA?

To be perfectly honest the guy creeps me out and is often kinda inappropriate in how he talks to me when he meets me in the store. I also have seen the way he leers at other young women in their teens and twenties, he's around 50 something. He was going past my house, he lives maybe 10 houses away. I saw him out walking when I collected the mail from the post box and walked back into my home and he followed right behind me and as I tried to close the door he put his hand on it stopping me, he apologised and asked if he could come in and use the bathroom. Warning bells went off in my head, I told him no and he tried to push his way in as though he was entitled to enter my home but I told him if he didn't piss off I'd call the police and he left calling me a bitch. I called my husband who drove home and went straight to his door and he called the police. We've a door bell cam so the police who were sympathetic and suspicious of him didn't press charges. Some in the neighbourhood say it was unneighbourly and they've let him use theirs in the past no problem while others say I did right. I was raised to better be safe that sorry in these things.

You did nothing wrong , your neighbor had no right trying to force himself into your home without your consent , he is lucky you didn't have a gun on you because you clearly had the right to shoot his ass for pulling a stunt like that. The second you said No should have been his answer to walk to the other way. Just because your other neighbors like the guy, it doesn’t mean you have to. So you did the right thing by refusing him into your home , if a neighbor pulled that shit with me , I would have knocked him the fuck out or shot his ass , Neighbors sadly can be complete assholes for no reason , why I decided to buy a home with no neighbors on my ass , everywhere I lived prior to this I always had some wack job asshole neighbor causing shit for no reason. My one neighbor called the cops on me because my German Shepard barked at her from 50 feet away , I had to pay a fine , because my dog scared her , the lady is a wack job , my other neighbors all confessed to me to stay away from her , because she causes problems all the time , so I ignore her every time I saw her , she is cop happy and calls the cops on everything , I also had neighbors calling the cops on me for having a bonfire in my back yard , they called and complained about the smoke , the cops showed up and I showed them my fire pit , they said you are fine you aren’t doing anything wrong , a few days later someone called the cops on me again for my fire , I told the cop that I just had a cop here the other day , I said who the fuck keeps calling on me , and he said he can’t tell me who by law but he did tell me if they call again to file harassment charges against them , luckily that was the end of that shit . So if your neighbor fucks with you 2 more times , my advice is to go press harassment charges on his ass. By law they will have to sell their home and move the fuck out. So your neighbor has strike one , 2 more , get him out lol

I know this is fake ah, but this makes no sense. The police were sympathetic and suspicious at the same time? That's quite contradictory, and then you say you had a ring cam which would have shown him trying to force his way in. Speaking of that, if he actually tried to force his way in there is no way you were stopping him once the door was open. So many holes in this fiction.

he's the fucking asshole. If he had to use the bathroom that bad then he would have been knocking on doors as he went, any with lights on. Or he would have been running for his own house! He would not have waited until your house and then all of a sudden try to rush inside because NOW it's an emergency. You did right and do the same if it happens again. He is shady stay safe.

Not the asshole. i would much rather someone think i'm an asshole because i don't invite them into my home, then for them to turn out dangerous once i do invite them in. you can't really trust people, even if they are neighbors. so you made the right call in my opinion.

If he needed to use the bathroom he should of asked when you got the mail and not followed you back only to ask when you turned around. Also him preventing you from closing the door suggests something nefarious. You get to decide who you let into your home; and if you don't feel comfortable with someone you don't have to let them in. Regardless of the reason. Plus 10 houses is not far to go to his own bathroom.

if he only lives 10 houses away then I think he could’ve managed to hold it long enough to go to his house since he’s not some contractor or landscaper working on your house that needs to use the bathroom so you did the right thing
