It depends, generally I dont think they all belong in a museum, I think they best fit into a museum but I would be against expropriation or making these thing illegal (asside from weapons). That being said, I think most collectors, collect those things because they support these organizations and thats a problem.
The following two examples are anecdotal evidence so take it with a grain of salt but two examples of collectors and non collectors.
1. Our police force did some raiding on self proclaimed "Reichsbürger". These are people who believe that the german reich never ended and we are now a GMBH bassically a company. (Yes its weird they are along the lines of flatearther, anti vaxxer, jewish space laser, etc. ) They dont recognize our laws and police. They think our police is a PMC. Most of them own weapons and stuff. While some weapons are legal, they often still have illegal weapons under the guise of a collection. The problem is, that some of them own weapons that are neither legal or are not permitted under any weapon law but need permission under the weapon of war control act.
You are allowed to collect the same weapons if you make them unsusable though. The problem is, that there is bassically no control for it. Someone might own 100+ weapons, say they have a collection, make 5 unusable and keep the rest viable. Outside of these raids which are only possible with a valid reason, its hard to ever get to know about the rest. The last time this happened was because our FBI equivalent found online chats where they planned to overthrow the government. That allowed raids where the weapons got found.
On the other hand my mother in law still has a star for jews, nazis used to mark jews. It's not hers, she keeps it as a reminder. My mother in law got it from her mom and she got it from a friend who died shortly after WW2 after surviving a KZ that was freed by the allied forces. They were friends in school before the NS regime. After WW2 my grandmother in law was one of the few people who she was able to get in contact with. I don't know much more about the story though.
It's one those things that's both. I think it's okay to have it but the real question is how you got it that's when it becomes dubious, as in 99% there is no real ethical way to get it.
But then again that's if one even cares about that. Do we care that our phones aren't ethically made? Not really. But a phone is more needed right so there is some justification, at the same time you do need a level of regulations otherwise it becomes wild west.
It depends. You can collect Bill Cosby memorabilia without supporting drugging and raping women. Historical artifacts are just that, curiosities to help us reflect and consider the past, for better or worse
nazi i get but KKK is weird bc they're not even cool looking in an edgy way lol they just look goofy
and the history for them isn't interesting either

Your private collection it should be allowed as despicable as it is!
I could see a history buff wanting to have some of those items. But most people would misinterpret ownership of said items to endorsement of their ideology.
Why wouldn't it be fine unless a person wanted to reinstate the use?
As a piece of history I have no problem with what a person chooses to collect.
Depends on if they are 'spoils of war' or collected by victims rather than those who seek to issue them or use them again
If someone collects that crap, then it's because they believe in it. So no, it's not okay in my opinion.
It all depends on the personal circumstances that they have it in their collection.
The last time I checked it was a free country. People can collect anything they want
It's fine, part of history which we really need to remember, females in nazi uniform are seriously hot anyway lol,,,
I wonder how many European Theater Allied soldiers took souvenirs of their victory? I see nothing wrong with those.
almost all by this time will have passed to heirs, but still.
Finders keepers.
