How come pens vanish but caps remain?

From time to time pens seem to grow legs & walk away especially the clickable ones without caps at work. When I’m home doing laundry pens with caps seem to fall victim to the sock monster living in the dryer & the pens usually surface however the caps seem to vanish.

I don't have that problem because I don't use pens with caps. I use the ones that click out. What I want to know is where all the tops to my kitchen food storage containers go!

It still constantly bewilders me just how our washing machine can lose/swallow a sock!

According to my Mother this has always been one of life's greatest mysteries.

Yes, they do have a habit of walking away, especially if you have kids. That is why I always buy the cheap Bic pens.

While we use it, it dried so we toss it and forget the cap that falls and we find it!

Given how many pens I've seen dried out because the caps have gone missing, I'd have to disagree with the core premise of that question.
