For me, it was these two employees at Burger King one time... MAYBE McDonald's, but probably Burger King.
So the customer in front of me had ordered their food. I was next in line. Then these two employees just sort of stared at me with an emotionless zombie look, literally not saying a SINGLE word. Like not even a "hello" or something. And they were 100% motionless. Weren't blinking, didn't seem to be breathing either. Then I ordered my food, and they also didn't say anything. They just simply took my money and walked off.
Then when one of them came back with my food, I said "thank you very much" and they literally just rolled their eyes at me and walked away.
As for the food itself... it was pretty bad. Even for fast food standards. Not the absolute worst ever but pretty bad.
So it's pretty obvious those two employees clearly hated their jobs and didn't give a shit about doing it well.
As for the interaction (or lack of, lol) itself... it was rude, yes, but even more so weird as hell and kind of creepy, lmfao.
Like I know to not expect much from fast food employees. But this was a whole 'nother level that only happened once.
And the employee rolled their eyes because I said "THANK YOU VERY MUCH?" If that's how they treat polite people I don't wanna know how they treat aggressive people.
Like I get that these fast food workers hate their jobs (and probably their lives) and make very little money but you at least gotta do the bare minimum. You don't need to act like your customer's best friend or anything, but at least greet them and not roll your eyes when they say fucking thank you.

The upscale mall I used to go to introduced a long shopping day per week (ten pm). I was at work till eight pm and used the opportunity to get a late haircut. I commended the hairdresser for this great service and she snapped at me, obviously pissed that she had to work late. Wow. 😳
A lot of bosses don't even pay for overtime
In the EU they have to, no way around it unless they want to commit a felony.
And that's why she snapped
WOW... just WOW... I have no words. If that's how she treats a compliment imagine how she'd treat someone who said "this service was fucking horrible I demand a refund!"
She'd probably end up literally murdering the person.
A compliment she snaps at you... an insult, she murders you... 💀
Have you ever overtimed Ez?
@anon1903 Yes. And I HATED it but I didn't take it out on the customers at the very least. And especially not over a fucking compliment.
I'm not the most warm or friendly person due to being extremely introverted, but I do the bare minimum to not make the customer seem like a criminal for expecting me to do my job.
I see
More people must have your tolerance then
@anon1903 Thanks, lol, and true.
Though my attitude really is nothing exceptional or out of the norm. Most people do this from my experience except for literally just those two specific employees from Burger King.
They probably don't even work there anymore, lol.
They are paid less and they take a million orders a day. Of course they don't want to waste the energy in "hello!" or "come again!" or something. Especially in America, where fast food is the diet for lots of people. In Japan, maybe you'll find better service, since Asian culture is full of manners and all, and people go out to less often although that's fast changing
I mean these guys were literally an exception though. Literally everyone else did at least the bare minimum. I don't live in a super friendly area or anything but these guys were especially weird and rude. I literally never saw anything like it before or after.
I know these people are paid badly and most likely hate their jobs (AND their lives) but this is bare minimum stuff.
And the part of rolling their eyes at a "thank you very much" was just flat out ridiculous.
But yes... Japan and other Asian cultures are a million times better at this. Heck, even Brazil for the most part.
Trust me, even we Asians don't like to be polite and stuff, we're just conditioned to be the most accomodating.
It's human nature, Ez
I don't doubt that.
Though even for American standards these guys were especially rude.
Like who is to say that the other hundreds of employees I met were wrong, and only these two were right?
Americans birthday rudeness tbh
True, can't deny that.
Coincidentally or not in places in America with better pay the employees are much better.
Most likely yes
If you are going to eat that garbage, you deserve everything you get. The standards are gutter level as it is. You can't expect quality customer service.
I mean I've eaten fast food several times, and this instance was pretty much just an exception. Besides this one instance most of the other employees were all chill, generally polite-ish people.
Employees are often exploited and it kills their work ethic
@anon1903 True. Though professionalism is a thing for a reason. No need to go above and beyond (especially for a shitty minimum wage job) but bare minimum at least.
Like if you didn't get the bare minimum passing grade to pass a class in school... you failed.
Life in general is like that.
Using the American grading system (if you're familiar) all you need is a 60% score D grade to pass. Bare minimum. If you don't get it... you fail.
60 percent is quite good in India. It's actually a B- I'm very sure
@anon1903 Really huh. Interesting. Looks like the grading system in India is much, MUCH different than the one in America. LOL. Makes sense though. Two completely different cultures.
If you need a reference on the American grading system, assuming you don't know already, otherwise ignore this next part...
A: 90% to 100%. The best grade you can get.
B: 80% to 89%. Pretty good, but not the best.
C: 70% to 79%. Average. Not horrible, but not what you should be aiming for.
D: 60% to 69%. Bad. The absolute bare minimum.
F: 0% to 59%. Failing. The absolute worst.
Now that I'm saying it out loud, kind of weird that there's no in-between letter grade between 0% and 59%, LOL. Meaning if you get a 59%, almost a D, it's basically the same as getting a 0%. 💀
In Brazil they used a different one according to my parents. I don't know anything about it, but they said it was just simply 1 to 10. Like 1/10, 5/10, 10/10, etc. 1/10 probably being a 10%, 10/10 an 100%, 5/10 being a 50%, stuff like that. But I'm not sure. Lol.
@anon1903 Damn...
They really changed my C colon and D colon to emojis...
70% to 79% is C, and 60% to 69% is D.
Sounds demotivational
Gag has been screwing with you
No offense but we who have a lenient grading system are considered intelligent, compared to you guys. Why is that?
@anon1903 Demotivational doesn't even begin to describe it. Meaning if I was close to a D grade only by ONE FUCKING POINT now my grade is worth the same as a fucking ZERO? I FUCKING HATE THIS COUNTRY SOMETIMES!!! 🤬🤬🤬
And on a lighter note, yes, LOL, Gag really has. 😂 It's annoying but also kind of funny.
@anon1903 Ah damn, your third message came through right as I was typing my reply (which I often take too long anyway), so I only addressed your first two messages... SORRY. 😅
And no offense taken. I'm not really proud of other Americans. Or other Brazilians either (going off of what my parents say about them).
But yeah. It's kind of strange how a country with a more lenient grading system is much more intelligent than one with a more demanding grading system.
Maybe cuz kids go in thinking "a 59% is the same as a 0% anyway, so why even bother trying?"
And too much emphasis on grades instead of learning is kind of a bad thing. Kids with bad grades losing motivation to keep on going.
