Did you want to go back and experience it again?
2.9K opinions shared on Other topic. I didn't like the school part of high school much, but I loved some of the people I met there.
I attended a Catholic grammar school from 1st through 8th grade. I actually liked it. Then I attended an all boy's Catholic high school in 9th grade. It was horrible.
But when I started public high school in the fall of 1969, I was ready to break free.
it was the same year as Woodstock.
I had already been playing guitar for 3 years.
I started learning to surf during the summer after 9th grade.
So, in high school I was friends with surfers and also got immediately befriended by some really cool hippie kids. Among other things, they liked that I could play guitar.
From the mid-60s, I had been fascinated by hippies, psychedelia and progressive music.
The stupid anti-drug assemblies we had in 7th and 8th grade seemed like overblown scare tactics. But they taught me the names of drugs and made curious.
I got my first car as soon as I turned 16 in Jan 1970 and got my first girlfriend later that year. Both of those things were epic!
I asked a new friend if he could get me some weed because I wanted to try it.
I later experimented with other drugs but didn't like them much. Except psychedelics - LSD, peyote, mescaline, psilocybin mushrooms - were interesting.
I went to my first rock concert in 1970 and wound up going to hundreds during the rest of the decade. I saw the best bands, musicians and performances in history.
I went to lots of what we called "love ins", which were just large gatherings of kids at parks, gathered into groups, socializing, passing joints, and listening to music.
By 11th grade, I was a good guitar player and became lead guitar and lead vocalist in garage bands playing rock music. We played at a lot of parties and I became very popular. I grew my hair out like a rock star.
Until I was 26 in 1980, I continued hanging with my friends and basically living my high school lifestyle. I surfed, skateboarded, played frizbee and lots of other sports, went out to the desert to target shoot, learned to trap shoot, drove all over the place exploring California and beyond, went on lots of camping and backpacking trips, went to concerts, and partied like a Viking. I always had a girlfriend.
I also started community college right after graduating from high school and actually enjoyed it for the most part.
All that ended in 1980 when I got handed a high paying corporate job. I had to cut my hair, wear a suit, an learn how to be a grown up.
But the times from age 16 to 26 were totally carefree and fun. I was exploring the world, full of energy, daring, curiosity and pushing my limits. They were great times.
I'm not sure if I would want to relive those days, but I do miss them. And, in many ways, I still relate to them. They were my formative years.
But I have had some fantastic times since then.00 Reply

Nope. I don't know if I could do it a second time. I don't have any positive memories from my childhood; not a single one.
Not that I ever really did "high-school" in a traditional sense. I did grade 9. Got expelled from two high-schools in grade 10. Moved cities for grade 11 in order to find a school that would take me, only to drop out the following year.
I was never made for high school. I was far too reactive in my younger years and by the time I settled down I was at a different stage of life compared to my peers and just didn't fit in anywhere.
But in the end everything turned out all right. Eventually got myself in with a good company that put me through college and gave me a career to work towards despite the rough start in life.
I have zero ambitions of going back into the past. Forwards is the only path available in any case which suits me just fine.

Oh I loved all the BS, getting bullied because I was not in the click. I did their boyfriends behind their backs.
The teachers telling me to study hard or you will never amount to anything.
And me on the day I quit school. The office staff said, But you are a pretty and smart girl. Don't waist your life.
Me. I told them I was going to find a filthy rich guy to take care of me, and have his kids.
I feel sorry for them. I never had the heart to tell them that I am a mechanical engineer.
A HS diploma has no value. But some of the parties and things I did were fun.

Wow ! You seems a very interesting person!
I miss some of my friends who I don’t see as often now if at all. I still see some of them but not all of them and, the ones I do see, I wish I saw more. I actually had a great high school career if you judge from the outside. I was the pet of most teachers and was co valedictorian and got voted onto the sweetheart court and all that stuff. I dated a popular good looking boy. However inside I was confused and frustrated most of the time (like I was annoyed by my relationship and didn't know why). So to me it is mixed, overall I prefer my life now. JMO!

7 dI hated high school. Hated having to go to classes I didn't care about and slept through. I wasn't much of a social guy either. I had a couple friends who stuck with me to this day many years down the road. High school was just a sheep fest. Everyone taught to integrate and be part of the system.
There are some things I missed, like doing fun projects, or going on field trips to things like a ski resort or a pioneer village with maple syrup testing, but other than those once-in-a-blue-moon events, it was incredibly boring and stressful.
Now I have freedom with my life to do whatever and I wouldn't trade that for anything.00 Reply 1K opinions shared on Other topic. School was fun but when school was over and the life after graduation at least 10 times more fun
But the people that I was friends with in school we remained friends for another 20-25 years
And just about every weekend and even weekdays we would do something together
And still get friends with all of them we just don't see each other anymore life has changed for all of us kind of
And to be honest I mean even days in today's world are still very good
But I think being this age I would say no yes maybe LOL but I'm single right now and I think just a good relationship with me just like in high school because you're always doing things together experiencing new things challenging new things00 Reply818 opinions shared on Other topic. They are memories now and I don't care to repeat it or relive it. I have been thinking lately about my time playing soccer as I watch the World Cup though. Lots of good memories from those days. I was too wild for my own good though.
I cut my own path in High School, just like in life. It suits me and was good. I was never the guy who peaked in High School and never a guy who “peaked” at any part of his life as that is a place that one can get stuck in mentally. I just live my life at my own pace and whims and do much better than most.
00 Reply762 opinions shared on Other topic. Well in many ways ( of course at my age ) I'd love to go back but with my current knowledge, would have taken it a bit more seriously , still it was good , I was captain of the golf team , but I could have done a lot more..
Didn't hate it , didn't love it
. but I also didn't make the most of it , little application.00 Reply884 opinions shared on Other topic. Not at all , my school was filled with snooty snobby kids’ that had everything handed to them , that thought their shit didn’t stink , I still have some friends’ that I still talk to from high school that are cool and still part of my life , but I mainly put high school behind me and was glad that it ended. So I have no desire to even consider going back lol
00 Reply550 opinions shared on Other topic. High school was good for me. If I could change things by going back, I would have taken different electives. I would have learned an instrument and played sports since I was physically much better than the athletes on the state championship team from my school. I was too interested in gaming and hanging out with friends at the time though to do any extracurricular activities.

8 dHigh school was fun and wild for me and the friends I had, but to be honest no those days are now memories and that is likely the proper place to keep them.

8 dNo, if I could take back the hands of time, I wouldn't be there... Was bullied and called a witch because I refused to be friends with some group of girls
20 Reply2.2K opinions shared on Other topic. Yes, because I would go back and get into more trouble, I took for granted how much you can get away with even despite me doing a lot. Though equally no, don't want to be with my abusive mother again.

8 dNo. I was bullied a lot because I was put in special classes due to having ADHD at a young age. I never fit in with the other kids and many teachers didn’t like me.

8 dI had a fun-filled high school experience, overall.
However, I do not need to relive them.
It's enough and enjoyable to just reminisce about all those fond memories.
00 Reply Miss them? No.
But if I could relive them knowing what I know now I definitely would go for it.
Then again I’m fine with what I did. I always did my very best and thus have no regrets.00 Reply- 812 opinions shared on Other topic.
7 dYes and no. While I watch those kdramas, yup. Otherwise no. I used to get bullied so much. My parents are neglectful lol. I didn't have friends.

@MrChinaski ,
@MrChinaski,
I have unintentionally / unconsciously always lived in the moment and squeezed every drop of juice from the lemon of life to make the most of it. That tends to minimize regrets. Yesterday was great. But yesterday is gone. Make today great. Make tomorrow great. - 8 d
It's the right frame of mind.
Anonymous(45 Plus)9 dF*** no! I mean i may be older, and hopefully wiser. But high school is kids. Kids are not logical. All my knowledge i've gained would account for nothing in that world.😆
Plus that's going backward in life. Never go backward, always move forward. You spend time looking back and you're going to miss what's right in front of you.👍💯
00 Reply838 opinions shared on Other topic. @quinejessica No, not missing it, only regretting that I cannot go back and repeat it, and beat the living shit out of several of the punk-thugs.

I miss it too. But when my school ended, contacts with friends were lost so quickly by themselves, is that the case with you too?

8 dNah. Being an adult has been far more interesting and you learn how to manage on your own, take care of yourself, navigate life.
00 Reply 677 opinions shared on Other topic. Not really. Besides, I might as well still be in high school; I get away with just as much now.
00 Reply729 opinions shared on Other topic. I do miss high school days and some great moments but I’d rather not go back to re-live any of it. The memories are good enough for me.
