Girlfriend doesn't want me to join Army

Question

I am 18 and in high school and I have a girlfriend of 10 months. And when I get out of high school I am going into the Army, but my girlfriend does not want me to. So what should I do?

Im just saying my opinon so nobody start saying I'm wrong about this because its just my opinon...your only in high school and your with this girl 10 months which seems long but its not really!! is the realtionship gonna last forever ?? in my eyes I personally don't think realtionships go far with someone you have been goin out with since you were in high school I just think its like a 10 in  a 100 chance it will last!! it very well could but I doubt it!! I know if I was your girlfriend I wouldnt want you to go because of your safety and all but I wouldnt make you stay if that's what you wanted to do if  truely loved you I would wait until forever for you!!but what you gotta think is will you really regret not going the army 2 stay with someone for at the most probally a few yrs!!because your nt gonna lose this girl if you go the army if she truely loves you ,u wont..xxxxx

Man, I'm in the same boat as your girlfriend. I want him to be happy and do whatever he wants to, but I don't want to miss him-- or potentially lose him. I love him. Your girlfriend is doing what people do for people they love. She is worrying. Don't let her keep you from following your dreams, but don't leave her out of your life. Talk to her about it like an adult, and try to come to an understanding. My heart is so torn over my boyfriend joining, but I know that if you love someone you have to let them live and you have to live how you want to. Otherwise, you'll just be miserable with built-up resentment for what he/she MADE you do. No regrets man.

I understand both of your opinions. I'm going through the same thing with my boyfriend. we are supposed to get married eventually. but now he's wanting to join the army. I'm scared & worried I'm gonna lose him. The military isn't for certain people. They can't handle it & I'm one of those people. Do what's best for you & better for your future, but include her. She feels left out & lonely. If like me she thinking its just gonna end & she's worried about both you & your relationship. Don't make any quick desicions. Talk about it & understand her side..

Your girlfriend is worried and she will miss you as you already know that! But if my boyfriend were to go to the army.. I wouldn't be able to handle it..so I can probably feel your girlfriends situation.... You should think about the army thing too for yourself... do you really want to join?? I know you won't have fun there.. so you really should think about what you're getting yourself into!!!

Tell her your side of the story, and what is driving you to make you go. If she really cherishes you she will listen and respect your final decesion, even if that mean she may have to let you go. In the end, its all about following your heart and what makes you happy. Having a partner to share it with is just an added bonus.

Why are you going into the Army? That doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Why don't you become a cop instead?

It's up to you... the Army is great, but with the war going on right now she may be worried about you going. You need to talk to her and find out the reasons she doesn't want you to go. If this is something you really want........don't let anyone kill your dreams.

So because your girlfriend says so you are not going to follow your dreams? I think she is being  selfish. This decision is not about her it is about you. Follow your dreams ok, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Tell her you love her and really want her support in this.  You are 18 young. You should live life to the fullest!! Good Luck!!
