What does it mean when a guy asks you what you think of him?

Does it mean he likes you/is interested, or is it simply curiosity?

He asked this twice and the first time I asked him why he wanted to know, he said he was just curious of how he came off to other people. The second time he asked, I didn't have time to respond before lunch ended.

It means he's confused by the way you relate to him, and isn't sure of how you feel, but all the same is pretty sure you like him and wants you to say it, as well as pin down whether you want to continue to see each other...He's asking you to make up your mind! He's defintely interested, but...he doesn't know for sure how interested YOU are!

It means you haven't given him much feedback one way or the other... You're just showing interest/questioning/absorbing stuff about him, but not withdrawing and showing negative signs nor are you escalating flirtation, complimenting, etc. You're just leaving him in limbo...

How should I respond to let him know that I am interested without flat out saying it in case he doesn't feel the same?

Heh, ya know if you ever want anything to happen you're going to have to take some chances and let him know... Things like complimenting him on things he's talking about, laughing at his jokes, becoming touchy with him, witty teasing, offering to help him out, etc. That change from no response to a positive response are good indicators... They should have been done before he put that question in your face though... Now you're at the point where he's a little confused and frustrated with you. =P

I'm just pretty shy and I take a while to warm up to people but I'll try doing those things when I see him next time. Thank you :)

It means he is specially interested in what You think of him. He probably wants to make a good impression on you and wants you to see him in a good way.
