When a guy offers to teach you?

So after not talking in a long time (around 2 months) I decided to message him. We talked, and I kind of ranted at him at how I find this subject hard and he offered to teach me. We don't study in the same school but he's coming over to teach. Could this mean he's at least a bit interested?

Short background

He's studying in a different country for the meantime but he comes home once in a while during his break. We don't talk often, almost like every 2 months. He did tell me he likes me a year ago, before he left but I just don't understand why he won't initiate conversations? I always have to message him first though he tries to continue it.

Yes. Very much so. He wants to spend time with you, this is indicative of interest, just like you suspected. Hell, he's told you he's interested.

Chances are the reason he doesn't start convos is because of the different country thing so he doesn't see the point. Yet the fact he continues them contradicts that. Its highly possible he is just awkward making the first move to start up a conversation.
