If a guy calls you darling or darls does this mean he still likes you?

I don't know any of his family or friends who are girls, but on Facebook he seems to call them hun or mainly by their names.

We were together for a short time, but he broke if off a few months ago saying he really liked me, but wasn't ready for anything emotionally or mentally yet due to being hurt by every previous girlfriend and he was sick and frightened of getting hurt - said he could only offer me friendship right now.

He no longer texts me, but still flirts a little in person.

Also I've told him that I'll wait around for a few months only, told him not to make me wait for no reason if he wants to keeps his options open and tell me if he doesn't see a future with me down the line - why doesn't he reply to set me straight what he wants and how he feels?

Really think he genuinely ain't ready mentally for a relationship - feels as though he likes me, doesn't want to let me go, but ain't ready to take things further right now and commit.

If he calls you darling it means... well it means nothing. People call girls by many names, some call all girls darling, some don't. Maybe he calls you darling because he's 'sort of' with you but isn't. I don't know, who knows!? We don't know the guy.

However what I do know is this guy is being an a**hole right now. To be honest it sounds like he's not that into you but is too afraid to break it off himself, and wants it to just fizzle out. Or he's the type of guy that wants to have a 'back-up girl' while he sleeps around. You may not know if he's with another girl, but if you find out his excuse can easily be 'well we weren't really together.'

Sounds like you need to break it off and see how he reacts. Go out with another guy because it's not worth waiting for a guy like this. Maybe give him a warning before hand and see how he reacts. If he's relieved or doesn't seem to care, you have your answer.

You asked another guys name in what context? I'm going to assume it was a guy he knew and you were interested in him, and so you asked his name because you liked the guy? That's what's not clear.

Just because he says something, doesn't always mean it's true. I don't know the guy, so I can't know for sure. You may just think he's being honest, but that's what lying is all about. Or maybe he is the honest guy you know him to be. Does he come off as an honest guy all the time?

If he is acting jealous, and is calling you darling in that context, then maybe you are right. He is starting to get feelings for you again.

But you have to think about yourself sometimes. How long has this been going on? Are you purposely not going for other guys because of him? You have to talk to him or give him an ultimatum if you can't wait around for any longer.

No one should ever be waiting around for someone else to be ready.

I came out of a 13yr relationship less than 2yrs ago as my husband cheated, so I'm scared to trust men - don't think I'm 100% ready for a relationship, but willing to try with him as he feels so right !

He's been saying he's not ready for nearly 4 months, but still says he likes me and flirts.

I've asked him by text saying I'm willing to wait around if he sees a future with me but told him not to make me wait for no reason - he doesn't reply - think he wants me to wait but is confused

Sounds like he's not sure then. You have to bring it up again, and again, until he replies. Talk to him face to face to get a real answer. It's not fair for him to keep you wondering.

Yes he does seem to be an honest guy - just struggles with talking about his feelings etc!

I asked him another guys name he works with as the guy had been nice to me - I didn't fancy him, but I'm sure he thought I was asking because I did fancy him, and that he thinks I should only be into him and nobody else!

If he comes off as an honest guy, well that's just it. He's trying to get in the way of you being with someone else. He clearly wants you to like him and only be into him.

However what you need clarity on is if this will lead to anything at all, and when. You don't want to be waiting for years. So not getting a response to this isn't good enough. He may never be ready for a relationship.

You need a response, or you need to give a clear ultimatum.

Do you really think I should keep texting him for a reply or just give him space, as I've told him in the past I would wait until my birthday for him, which is just after Valentine's day.

He just won't reply, which keeps me wondering if he's not answering me because he thinks he may see a future with me but doesn't wanna get my hopes up - I'm confused! I can't speak to him about this stuff in person, as since we split I only see him at his work occasionally and trying to give him te space he needs.

I'm not an expert (like most people here), and I don't know the two of your and your personalities and backgrounds, so what advice I'm giving is really with a grain of salt.

If he needs space, then give him some space if that's what he said he needed. However eventually you need an answer from him. If you've given him an ultimatum, then just play it out, and stick to your ultimatum. He may only turn things around when that ultimatum comes around, as long as you stick to it.
