you're only 17!!! it's not that big of a deal. and you were honest with your so about what happened, so why would you consider yourself to be bad at all now? I don't agree it was a mistake though, because you wanted and initiated it. and from how the guy responded it sounds like you got karma. so... you may as well get over it, it's in the past...

please completely ignore all the insults, you don't deserve them in the least. future guys aren't going to care about you're cheating. you're only 17. in 5 years what you did won't even be a memory or relevant to anyone.

and, you do know you don't have to tell future partners about it right? if you want to then go for it, but your past doesn't have anything to do with a new guy if you ask me. why should it?

I do feel mistakes don't define us in our /future/ relationships. But you really just ruin the present one when you cheat.

Next time you find love, if you really regret it, and you really want to be better, then you have another chance to love someone the way they deserve it.

Cuz honestly, even in your situation, you still have the freedom to go on break or break up before you try dating apps. That's the respect you owe them, not to keep pretending and playing it safe till you find your next one. Break it off when it needs to be, and then focus on finding someone else.

Once a cheater always a cheater.

You can defend yourself all you want but you'll never not have cheated.

Lol, if you could just erase all your past mistakes the world would be a worse place. Imagine murderers and rapists saying, "Yea I've killed and raped, but I am not a killer/rapist" YOU HURT SOMEONE. YOU ARE A CHEATER. Deal.

It's kind of piteous that you would compare a time where a 16 year old girl cheated on her boyfriend to someone murdering or raping another. Nice try, though, Thank you for your input xx

You are a cheater because you've cheated, yes we are all defined by our actions.

"I have killed but I am not a murder, I refuse to be defined by my mistake"

"I have raped but I am not a rapist, I refuse to be defined by my mistake"

"I have committed war crimes but I am not a war criminal, I refuse to be defined by my mistake"

See we are what we have done, the good news is, we will also become whatever we do now and in the future.

This was no mistake. Mistakes are intentional, but what you did was intentional and deliberate. You committed a wrongdoing, an evil act.

It's like you are seeking validation from others to absolve you of your guilt. If you truly believe what you did was wrong, you would both never ever do it again, and never speak of it again. It serves no purpose to tell people about this evil and wicked thing, except reveal that the guilt is still eating away at you inside. You want to hear people say "Yes, despite this evil thing you've done, you are still good enough to be loved."

I can imagine this weighs heavy on your heart. You poured out the whole story for us here. You list your positive traits "funny, caring, compassionate, I would do anything to help," almost as if you are pleading to these future suitors to look past your actions and see a person who desires redemption.

I know that feeling, because I have done the same thing.

You did it once, so the likelihood of you doing it again is VERY high. You may never cheat again, but you did in the past and that will forever hang there. Betrayal is something that isn't easily overlooked even to other people you didn't betray.

This is a little bit more than a "mistake". Cheating is a choice, not a mistake. Maybe you should own up to your choices instead of passing it off as a mistake. "Moment of weakness" my ass. If such a thing can make you weak enough to cheat then you WILL do it again.

Once a cheater, always a cheater.

Sorry, I agree with you - I think people go way overboard with demonising infidelity. They put it up there with fucking kids in the Worst Crimes list, but you were not seduced by that man. You willingly engaged in activities. Words are powerful things, we have to be careful when using them.

You make no sense. Of course you're a cheater if you cheated. You can't undo what you did. You can lie to yourself all you want but until you stop denying what you did, you'll never solve the problem.

take responsibility for your actions, aceept what you did wrong, and LEARN from it. That's all you can do. It's the most mature thing to do.

Denying won't fix things. Nothing will. The only thing you can do is accept and do your best to not repeat the mistake. Only then will people look over your past, and give you a chance.

Someone who wins... is a winner...
Someone who runs... is a runner...
Someone who fights is a fighter...

Now... Someone who cheats... Cheating is like being a drug addict once an addict always an addict... but you can recover... but you will always have that flaw to watch for in your character... Take it from someone who was cheated on more than once.

ha ha , sorry but I've read all the opinions and I thought for myself like really have you put yourself in a relationship where you feel empty , you get love and attaention for 3 hours and that must make you survive for a week, two weeks sometimes a Month... Yes you made a Mistake, and you own up on your mistake and that says a lot about your personality and that you must take in consideration! I have been married for 8 years and I got the same, cheated on my husband and I told him, I was honest , I told him I spoke to you I said I am lonely but that will never correct what I did, and believe me when you find the right kind of guy for you like me, They will accept you with your past , with your mistakes etc... Don't let opinions get you down, it takes more to own up what you have done wrong that to cheat...

If you cheated, you are a cheater. End of story.

"But I was weak!" is a bullshit excuse that cheaters use to try and wave the problem away. "Humans aren't perfect" is not an excuse to go around and cheat.

A normal human being would accept this fact and try to seek forgiveness, rather than denying it.

A cheater does not make a mistake, spilling milk is a mistake not having sex or engaging in sexual activities with someone. I don't care if your a man , woman their is no argument to justify cheating, period. your " mistake" doesn't mend your partners heart back together, it doesn't hold a relationship together.
