It depends on the way you broke up, if you broke up in a polite way or smth you could try and stay friends. But if you initially approached him/her because you liked her or loved her.. no you shouldn't.. friendship can turn into love but love cannot degrade. It better die than degrade
You can't stay friends with someone you harbor or used to harbor feelings for. It's weird, and there are good chances of things getting awkward and messy. Who's got time for so much drama?
Not true. My sister keeps in touch with a couple of her old boyfriends. It may help that they are all with other people now and don't live in the same area.

Run if someone says we can be friends after a relationship then it's bad you will lose yourself and it will make you weak stand for what you want and say no.

in my opinion if you take a girl on 5-7 dates I think you've invested enough time into a girl to say hey this was fun, but lets just stay friends. I mean no reason to just throw it all away.
If a girl has a guy go psycho/ballistic/postal on her once over a break up. she will use that as an excuse for the rest of her life to simply ghost guys rather than doing the honorable thing.
Somehow I feel ike i'm the only guy that doesn't call a girl 29 times. I may call 4-5 times over say a 5 day period and maybe text a few times, but nothing like repetitive calling some guys do where they continue to call repeatedly for like 15 minutes straight until she answers.
