Yes, it's only 4 Women that commented, but I don't think there is anything to add here, and I can guarantee that they spoke for most of us Women, they all made it clear, and I can sense the genuine honesty through their words.

As for me, i seek stability, with a right portion of attention, somebody that loves animals and understands family values, somebody that doesn't judge people, somebody I can trust completely and somebody that loves nature and traveling. Nothing more and nothing less ...

I believe when women say what they want in a man they believe what they are saying. But the reality is often very different and that is what has so many men cynical about marriage and women in general today. When half of marriages end in divorce and the vast majority of those divorces are filed by women, it's difficult as a man today to take it seriously.

The common response from women is that the divorce rate is high because men cheat and abuse their wives, but the facts and statistics do not support that. Women actually cheat more than men during the age band when most divorces occur, and men are the victims of spousal abuse nearly as often as women. What studies actually show is that lack of commitment is the biggest reason for divorce (by far), and women today lack the commitment required to make a marriage work in the long run.

It is very telling to look at the divorce rates among male and female same sex couples compared to heterosexual couples. Studies done all over the world in recent years all show that same sex female marriages have the highest divorce rates, by far, while same sex male couples have the lowest divorce rates, and heterosexual couples are somewhere in the middle. In other words, the more women who are involved in a marriage, the more likely it will end in divorce. Women, not men, are the common denominator in divorce.

Add to that the fact that men still get screwed in divorce court and child custody disputes and it's no mystery why men are saying no to marriage in record numbers. It should also come as no surprise that men don't believe it when a woman says that all she wants in a man is "loyalty, respect, tolerance and love". They say that, and I'm sure they believe it, but the facts too often show otherwise. As others have pointed out here, what women say (and believe) they want is often very different than what they actually want/need.

I always appreciate what you write and you seem like a great woman. But what I wrote about here is a serious problem that MUST be addressed if we are ever to salvage the institution of marriage, and the first step is to raise awareness and to get women to recognize and acknowledge the problem rather than denying it.

A few things...
1. In the age where most divorces happen, men statistically do cheat more.
2. The number one cause of divorce is lack of commitment. Since women are the ones that start most divorces it's lack of commitment on men's part. Not women. Considering men are more likely to develop drug addiction, gambling habits and to assault their partners, to not help around the house, etc and you know what the problem is.
3. Did you know that in 51% of divorces involving children BOTH the father and the mother agree that the kids should be with the mother? Also men get custody 23% of the time. So they only fight for the kids and lose 26% of the time. Meaning when both parents want custody, is almost 50-50.

1. No, that's not correct. There are more divorces before age 30 than at any other age, and women aged 18 - 30 cheat more than men of the same age.



2. Your "logic" here is illogical. Both men and women bring problems of different sorts to marriages. Listing all of men's problems while ignoring women's is illogical and disingenuous. Marriage takes compromise, hard work and commitment, and the fact that women file the vast majority of divorces shows they are less committed. The fact that female-only same-sex marriage have the highest divorce rate of all, by far, only serves to underscore that fact.

3. No, I didn't "know that" because the data I have seen paints a very different picture. The fact that you provided these statistics without any supporting information makes me doubt their validity. Please provide your sources.

I think it's sad that a man (if you actually are one) would try to undermine efforts to address the obvious problems leading to today's decline of institution of marriage. You're not helping anyone by doing so.

The chart I posted is a bit misleading if you only look at the lines because the y axis only goes to 30%, which artificially magnifies the gender differences. If you focus on the numbers you'll see that even up to age 50 the difference in cheating rates between men and women is only 3% - 4%. When you consider that the vast majority of divorces happen before age 50, men's infidelity certainly doesn't explain why women file 70% of divorces. You are just perpetuating tired old stereotypes here which, again, is not helping anyone.

1. The difference in cheating is not big at any age. But the average divorce age in the US is 3o years old. Exctly around the age when men start cheating more than women.

About that study, I doesn't surprise me. In couples wher ethe women does it all usually she has no job or they are heavely religious. In both those situations divorce is not an option. The woman can be miserable, but has no finantial conditions to divorce or simply doesn't believe on it. That's the same thing as saying housewives divorce less than women who work, of course they do! They have no option.

It takes into consideration 100% of divorces where a child is involved. Of those 51% both agree. Meaning 49% they don't agree and fight for it. And since father's get custody around 23%, mothers get around 26% it's not much of a difference actually.
What you hear everyone, the old outdated idea, is that mother's get custody almost 80% of the time. Which is true, but they forget to say that in 51% of those almost 80% the father didn't even fought for the kids! When both fight for the kids is actually a very close percentage.

@Stephen_77. My wife has worked all her life. She has a good career as a cosmetologist (hair stylist) and she is also a photographer and Photoshop expert, among other things. I used to earn more than her and was able to safe a lot, too. But now that I'm retired on a pension and Social Security, she brings home a bit more that I do. We share everything. We go out to eat, go on vacations, and do fun things together. I can do some thing that she can't do, like certain repairs or building things. But she works hard around the house and garden. She plants veggies, herbs and flowers, harvests fruit, waters, works on drip irrigation, and lots of things. I work on those things, too, but SHE'S the one who comes up with ideas to make the house and garden pretty. She's a go getter, generally very ambitious and busy, capable and imaginative. She has great ideas. She's also a good cook. I depend on her in a lot of ways and she depends on me for some things. She's also really smart and we have good conversations.

I don't know what else I could possibly expect from a wife. We're a team; best friends, cohorts, collaborators, business partners and lovers.

Mate seriously by age of 30 that's what woman ask for after turning into a road wreck and now being unable to handle the aggressive nature of the guys wanting daily sex with her when she was aged 17-28. That's why so many guys stopped dating entirely by 30.

Now that I'm older , women approach me, but I've completely lost interest (in fact I avoid women) because I'm not interested in dating like I was in my 20's and wouldn't want to have sex with them. They are to old for children, still demand I pay for everything and again are not attractive to me at all.

I am of the impression that what people want and what people say they want are two separate things and this goes for both sexes. Then there is the other matter of want versus need and that “right one” actually provides what you actually need but we’re too blinded with the ridiculousness laundry list of wants to actually see what it is that we actually need.


I think for all our various wants, ultimately we are burying the bar versus actually raising the bar. Hence why we meet individuals who still somehow manage to trip over that deeply buried bar…
