+1 yAge doesn't play into anything for me, it never has. I've had really big age gaps both up and down. It's all about personality and compatibility.
For me, I actually find relationships with people really close to my own age to be the least satisfying. I know what it's like to be born when I was born. I know the music I grew up with, the shows I grew up with. I want to be exposed to something new. Someone who is a lot like me, who thinks like me, and sees the world through eyes like mine, but is a different age, will have all sorts of things to share. They will like things that I will also like, but just haven't been exposed to. I will like things that they will also like, but haven't been exposed to.
So someone that I can talk to, whose company I enjoy, that's more important than age. Having similar views on things. Having similar values, interests. I am going to get along way better with someone with a similar view on trans* rights and gender politics who is a way different age than I would with someone my age who has a very different view on those topics. I am going to get along with someone with similar taste in games and movies with an age gap than I would with someone my age who likes entertainment that I don't care for.
It's about the alignment of personality. With that, an age gap actually adds interest for me. Without it, being similar in age isn't going to help. If the only thing I have in common with someone is "omg, you were born that year too? So was I! Wow... so exciting..." it's not going to last. If that makes sense.20 Reply

+1 yI've had girlfriends about 4 years older. I've had one that was far younger, but she always hung out with older guys and I thought she was older. Eventually it seemed like she just had too many issues. She was eventually diagnosed as bipolar. It was a damn shame. She was about the brightest girl I've ever known, but she just poisoned every relationship she'd ever had, friends and family included. I let her go, probably forever, but maybe she'll come back someday and I'll give her another chance. I can't let her play me for a sucker, though. She at least would have to understand that.

+1 yThe age difference between my partner and I is five days :P Either way, I wouldn't date someone older than 25 right now but it's not like it's my business what anyone else decides to do as long as it's between consenting adults.

+1 yI don't think age matters as long as those people are happy. Though when age starts to be bad. Is when people try to date teens under 18. When that person is 5-10 years above 18. That's when it becomes creepy as hell.

+1 yOriginally 5 years older was my limit. But I have dated 11 years older. And realize they can still be childish even if their older. But anyways I will say 10 years.

Freshmen to date other freshmen or sophomores.
Sophomore (girls) to date freshmen, other sophomores, or juniors.

Juniors to date sophomores, other juniors, or seniors.
Senior (girls) to date sophomores, juniors, other seniors, or anyone older.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yIt really depends. Like anyone under the age of 18 should stick with people their own age or closely around it, not like a 16 year old getting with a 22 year old or something. Otherwise I find people getting with others who are 10+ years older than them or vise versa is a little weird.

+1 yIt's not about years in that way. I think it changes depending on age. Once you become an adult, it's much more reasonable to date other adults despite a large gap in age because of similar emotional maturity. In cases where younger people are involved, the age gap that is okay becomes smaller in my opinion because large age gaps in relationships in teenagers seem really dangerous for the younger person.

+1 yI'm 27. My rule is no one under 20 (mostly for maturity reasons and I think it's weird). I would date up to 35. Dating a older girl has it's own advantages. My biggest turn on is intellect. I find smart women in their 50's attractive. I wouldn't date them tho lol

+1 yUnder 17 the gap should be 2 years or less in my opinion, but over 18 it really doesn't matter. The guy could be 20 years older or younger as long as they both consented its fine.
00 Reply5.2K opinions shared on Relationships topic. I've done the whole years apart thing, didn't like it and it didn't work out, two years younger and two years older is as far as I'll go now a days unless the gal in question is really something special.

+1 yAt 15, you should be looking only at someone your own age. When you are 19, there is no problem dating someone closer to 50.
00 ReplyI really don't want to date anyone 2 years younger than me. Maybe as low as 19 if I really click with the girl but eventually I'll raise it up to 20 as my lowest age.
00 Replymy dad is 10 years older than my mom and there is no problem with that. I don't see really a problem as long as both are legal and mature enough. I'm only sceptical with extreme age gaps, like a 20 year old with someone who's 40, 50 or even older
00 Reply449 opinions shared on Relationships topic. if both are of legal age then age doesn't matter you can not pick the person you love all you know is you love them

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yI don't mind it. There's a limit, but the limit isn't based on the gap, it's that when you start getting sub 18, the gap needs to start narrowing dramatically. if a 25 and 65 year old want to date, hope they're happy.

+1 yMy parents have a 7 year age gap, my sister with he husband has a 6 year age gap. So I don't really know what the big deal is, and even stranger to many people, in both of those relationships. the guy is younger
00 Replydoes not matter to me I see really sexy older ladys there in the late 50s and mid 60s and they still have a body like a 25 yr old I am 44 years old and i still look at them and get aroused just like all guys i see nothing wrong with it

+1 yIf you're under 20 your age rang should be 4 years max. If over it can expand to 10 or 20.

+1 yAge is just a number, what matters most is the compatibility of the two , if they match and are in love with each other that's what's really important.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yAll depends on the age of the daters. If you're 55(like me) you can probably be cool w/ 10-15 years. However, young folks should stick to around 3-4 yrs😊
