I think all of my friendships with attractive girls started out as me being interested in them. It then progressed to friendship once i dated another girl. So it can happen, but only if there is no attraction anymore (or any to begin with).
No. Even if the initial friendship is there at first - due to being emotionally close physical attraction will develop eventually.
Yes, they absolutely can. I don't get why people think it's impossible unless one party is gay, that has nothing to do with sexual attraction, I'm bisexual and I have close platonic relationships with both sexes.

I think so. I have a ton of guy friends and most of them had crushes on me at some point or are still crushing on me. But it is possible! Especially if the guy is gay or the girl is lesbian haha
