Why do people cheat on someone they don't want to lose on someone they don't want to keep?

Why did I cheat? That’s a good question and a complicated answer. I cheated on my girlfriend of five years. In hindsight I wasn’t satisfied in the relationship. Lack of feeling wanted, lack of feeling appreciated. Feeling a complete lack of affection. I know I was in the wrong. I deserve to have lost everything which I did. Along with having my reputation severely damaged. I got what was coming to me. But I stand here today and I own it.

Because they don't appreciate a good thing!!! If you are happy with your partner, you don't cheat on them: period. They're just selfish, inconsiderate, and think with their hormones rather than common sense.

I hate when a cheater tells their partner, "I'm sorry I cheated on you, I love you..." No, they're sorry they got caught! They'd still be cheating if they didn't get called out on it.

Cheaters have double-standards of the most hurtful kind. They will freak out if you dare talk to someone else but they will cheat and brush it off with lines like "it was only sex" and "it is really not that bad" or one of the most common ones "I was drunk."

The bottom line is a lot of cheaters are self-obsessed and they live in a world where everything has to revolve around them so if they want sex from someone else they will feel justified in cheating. I have been cheated on by 3 women in my lifetime and they ALL shared these same character flaws.

Respect your partner, communicate and if you are trully unhappy break up in a healthy and good way. Tell them directly why you are unhappy and that you want to break up. Explain it calmly and strict.

The origin is a bad communication within the relationship, from both sides, don't get me wrong, it can create a predisposition to cheat, however it doesn't cause the cheating.
