Boyfriend fixed my car for me, but charged me for it. Should I refuse to pay? (Page 2)

So my car needed some mechanical repairs, and the quote from the mechanic was a bit out of my price range for now. My boyfriend is good with the cars, and said he could do it for me and save me a bit of money. Turns out, he meant labour only, but still expects me to pay for parts. Is this fair? Surely my boyfriend of a year, who makes more money than I do, can afford to pay for the parts as well?
