The took me to Olive Garden for dinner and spent the whole day with me in bed but he got me no gift although he knows that I care about it he also did not got me a cake. Anyway he didn’t planned anything for my birthday besides the dinner that he asked if I wanted to go. I kind feel disappointed we are together two years I just turned 27 should I be sad?

I don't know why do you feel the need to be sad based on people opinions lol what's with asking should I be sad if others say you should or shouldn't will you decide your emotions based on people's opinion it's strange..

Without knowing his employment and savings status, it's hard to make a call on this one. I've received gifts from GFs that were less than the cost of a meal, and I've gotten one that was over the cost of ten meals! If he is broke, I supposed he still could have written a poem, or a nice sentiment and given that to you in some unusual way like a treasure hunt, etc.

About the cake -
Most restaurants- especially chains like OG, will typically offer some sort of freebie mini-dessert with a candle and a song for anyone with a birthday, anniversary, etc. if the host just lets them know about it.

Maybe his "love language" is quality time and thought that spending a day in bed with you was the best way of showing that?

Seeing as how you've been together for a couple of years, I'd probably give him another chance, especially if he is out of work now, etc.

I think you should talk to him about how you feel and that you’d like birthdays to be treated specially with cake and present and all that. I also came from a family that didn’t make a really big deal out of birthdays, so I grew up not really celebrating mine. But I learned the importance to my friends in boarding school and college and i love making them feel loved and special on their birthdays
