How do you feel about gold digger tests?

Question

For those of you that aren't familiar with this:

If someone suspects their partner of possibly being unfaithful, they can put their partner through a series of tests in order to figure out if they'd actually cheat on them.

So, it's basically a setup. But it's completely up to the person (that's being tested) to accept the offer (of cheating).

The scenarios seem very real and they execute them in such a smooth way that the person never knows they're being tested until the confrontation at the end (if they've failed).

Do you think it's right? Do you think it's wrong? What are your thoughts on this?

I personally think it's interesting... To me, it's so much better than assuming! Let them prove their faithfulness then be done with it! On the other hand, it's one of the worse things you can do for a relationship. Assuming distrust... It could actually break up a relationship if it's not done right. To do it without their knowledge, might even be a walkout and divorce. It's not hey, I was just kidding... It's hey, I did not trust you.

While it is a good way to catch someone you suspect of cheating, it's not good to use in an already healthy relationship. And even past that point, if someone was being faithful and you do this, even in a long mature relationship... They could still walk..

It's a smart idea but maybe not one that's good in practice

Not so sure the whole thing can go so worse in any case.

Nobody likes gold diggers. Used to be a problem as so many people lust for money and it's a real problem.

Was my problem in dating as businessman and a wealthy person. But you kind can see trough that mask in a short conversation or following their reactions.

But will never put someone trough that test because I don't want to go trough the same thing myself.
Doesn't feel right at all. No matter what they lust for is their own choice in life and they have thier own reasons for which nor i care nor i support them.

And yeah people sometimes lust after money 💰

So if I'm to say don't bother with them and move on.

This is actually a really good idea how to test someone in a similar way. It's unbelievable how he just takes another unknown girls number like that and agrees to a date. I think it would work even if just like your best friend tried to do that for you because cheaters are just cheaters and they will do it at any given opportunity.

There's a reason why they made this series and shows like it. Think about it. If the result was always that the partner refused and wouldn't cheat, then they wouldn't have a show at all. The whole concept would be thrown out and the shows never made.

But, because it is human nature, they are going to cheat more often than not. They are intentionally setting people up to fail and getting views on other people's heartache. I have my own opinions on monogamy, which are closely aligned with statistical data on prevalence of cheating, dating more than one person, breakups, divorce rates, etc. Maybe wolves and ducks mate for life, but humans are built more like the other 99% of heterosexually reproducing species. The whole idea of monogamy is a mythos perpetuated by culture.

Why? Because 2 is more than one. Because people get bored by routine and excited by someone or something new. Because no one person can fill all the needs of another. Because people are only as faithful as their options. You take any man or woman and show them their partner, then show them someone similar to their partner only faster, smarter, stronger, richer, more fit, etc. they are going to prefer the "improved" version. And there's always an "improved" version out there. No matter how smart, fast, strong, rich, etc, you are or think you are; there is always someone smarter, faster, stronger, richer, etc. It's just basic logic.

The reason we stay loyal is because of the golden rule: we want to be treated with respect, we don't want to get tossed out in the cold, so we treat others the way we want to be treated. But that often goes out the window if a person sees an opportunity to be treated just as well or better, if they simply give someone new a little attention.

Sorry this sounds so cynical. I actually am a big supporter and believer in love, intimacy, deeper connections and having lovers and friends for life. But I also am a realist and I see what I've seen in life over and over again.

why they even let it go there far? if you suspect the guy and you want to test that should be your brains trying too tell you something but your ignoring it. there is no test if your brain is giving you warning signs. dont question it, just go why give him a chance to get mad.

Amazing. Someone managed to turn click-bait into a tv show. That's really impressive. And a series no less.

As far as the idea of a test goes, my opinion is that it's pointless. Everyone has their price. It's basically tricking your partner into revealing what their price is. And then you would equate how low that price is to what they think of you. And the answer is that no matter what price, it will hurt you plenty enough. So really when you think about it, it's sabotaging the relationship.

On that point, a person should consider why they would sabotage and destroy their own relationship.

I used to watch those pranks and at first I thought it was real but yeah... they're all scripted and fake. I'm pretty sure girls aren't that obvious in showing their gold digger nature. I would probably be subtle.

But a gold digger test? Yeah, I've been tested and passed because I'm not materialistic and I believe that money doesn't solely define a man.

I understand 'gold digging' to be motivated by material (istic) gain.
What I see here is rather a faithfulness test?
The 'test' itself is quite blown up; I think, it could be done easier, with less (technical) effort and still giving a correct output (result).
This clip -as I see it- is more a piece of entertainment fur US, than a... test.
Interesting to watch, though.
In general: it's kind of sad to feel the need for checking out my partner's loyalty; but better feel sorry, than safe (sic!).
