99% of the times it means that I don't want to be in a relationship with you. Correction 99.9% of the time.
There are exceptions and the person really has a lot going on and they just are not in the space and do not feel comfortable letting anyone in. This is more true for people who are in their thirties maybe have a divorce under their belt or some type of other baggage with kids, ex husbands/wives or financial problems.
They have a lot going on in their mind and they really just do not want to get into a relationship. Younger people who don't have any real responsibilities they still want to play around and do what they want to do and it's just a nice way of saying that they don't like you but they don't want to burn the bridge because maybe they might change their mind.
What is on you now is to not let them have the benefit of a commitment without one. Have some self-worth have patience and get a hobby do something fun and go on a road trip and you'll be over it soon enough. And even if you're not over it just pretend like you are soon enough you will be.10 Reply

+1 y"I can’t be in a relationship with you right now"- There, fixed.
That's a nice way of saying he's not interested in you. I REALLY hate when people say that! There is no "wrong time" to be in a relationship. More like "wrong person." Rather than hurt your feelings, it's just his way of saying that he doesn't want to date you. However, if the right person he is interested in comes along, then he will be ready for a relationship.
I know that sounds harsh, but take it from someone that's heard that line before. That's your hint to move on and not bother with him.213 Reply- +1 y
I don't think that's true if I'm honest. I'm a single father recovering from major surgery post Covid. Everything I have right now is focused on me getting better as fast as possible for my little boy. Right now, a relationship would be energy and time I just don't have to spare so for me personally there is a wrong time. That wrong time being right now.

It could be right girl wrong time. It could also be wrong girl wrong time. But either way it's not happening at the moment due to whatever reason. I recommend just maintaining a friendship and seeing what happens later on. Maybe he will be ready, maybe one of you will have moved on.

@Uialtum thank you for sharing. So many people jump to this conclusion of disinterest in the person but it’s not always about you. Of course sometimes it’s a line but there are real reasons why there is wrong timing. Wrong timing is very much a thing. I agree with staying in touch and as friends but don’t keep giving your heart entirely because that can really hurt...
- +1 y
@TikiTook icing on the cake is when 2-3months later they are in a relationship with someone else but because they werent clear with YOU it meant you stayed long enough to see it which hurts more than being told they aren't interested in you. When people tell you the reality, you should listen. Someone interested in you wouldn't say "they aren't interested"

@Alejandro3000 what do you mean? I mean I have been honest with men and I have had them get angry saying it’s mean to say I’m not interested but if I lie and give them any hope that is more cruel in my opinion. I do realize most people take the easy way and lie to just save the drama and save feeling bad but it’s really just shitty on their end. Because people do cling on to hope (I have before so I know it hurts). But I have also had it be an honest case of wrong timing too. so it’s not the true meaning, it is something that is dependent on each person.

Like for me I met a guy who is moving to another country. Him not wanting to enter a relationship with me before he leaves has nothing to do with me. So to say it’s just because he doesn’t want to be with me specifically makes no sense here. Just an example, which is why I am arguing how people just jump to that conclusion which is always coming from ego. People need to stop being so caught up in themselves fr

It means, I fucking hate myself, my life and all the bullshit that's going on and frankly, having to care about how others think is currently way too tiring for me and I really don't see you helping that in the near future, so please just leave me alone until I stop hating everything, but also you're not a negative thing, I just don't have the capacity to think about the positives right now.
Yeahhh, I'm not ready for a relationship at the moment myself 😁 I get that feel a bit too well, lmao.11 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yMeans for whatever reason (could be several possibilities and/or more than 1, and ones that maybe have nothing at all to do with you) he doesn't want a relationship right now.
It could also be just a "nice" way of telling you he's not interested (ie it's him not you, like women do with us all the time lol). But guys are usually more direct and honest, so he might have some personal reasons that for whatever reason, he doesn't want to be in a relationship right now, period, with anyone.02 Reply- +1 y

+1 yWell, there are many possibilities. Is the person depressed? Are they going through a rough patch? If yes, then it’s probably because of that and they want to concentrate on themselves and work on themselves yk? Another reason is maybe they do not want to be in a relationship with you. That’s just a gentler way or rejecting someone.
It may be any one of these. My advice for you is to forget about them and move on. People in this comments section who are saying that the other person is full of shit, they’re wrong. People have their reasons yk? You can’t force someone to do something, so please don’t wait for them. They won’t change their decisions00 Reply- 493 opinions shared on Relationships topic.
+1 yThat they aren't interested in, or have other priorities than, a relationship right now.
They mean what they say, and if you suspect otherwise the best thing to do is be honest about that suspicion and (gently) press them.
If they maintain, then it's exactly what they mean.00 Reply 732 opinions shared on Relationships topic. It could mean various things
1. They're not in situation to be in a relationship, maybe going through mental strugfles, financial crisis etc
2. It's a gentler way of rejecting someone.
3. They don't want to commit but they want to keep the person around as back up, so they're stringing them along.10 Reply- 633 opinions shared on Relationships topic.
+1 yDepends. If it’s a guy saying it it literally means that and the reasons can very.
If it’s a girl saying it, it means I’m not interested…but if whoever is the latest Hollywood heart throb or a doctor or someone rich and famous and attractive asked me to be with them I’d do it without second thought.11 Reply
+1 yI use that excuse a lot personally but for me it means exactly that.. It usually meant they don’t have the time or aren’t in the right place for one. Not a bad excuse just the truth don’t look too much into it I’m sure they have their reasons like me

504 opinions shared on Relationships topic. It means literally what it says. Many people go through hectic times in their lives and a relationship is a commitment they don't need and can't handle but they still meet someone and things develop they just can't see them through.

- +1 y
This could be it but without any details we can’t say. I met a guy who is moving away for over half a year and so he couldn’t enter a relationship with me. That’s legit. It has nothing to do with me. But if it’s some guy who has a no legit reason and he’s just saying that and giving bs reasons then it’s probably disinterest. It is so dependent on each person, you can’t generalize
- +1 y
Yeah but reasons don't always have to include traveling. For the past year I've been doing a double masters degree and barely had to time to call my parents. I met a decent girl and was really into her but i simply had no space in my life for a relationship and we drifted apart. I with things were different but sometimes life makes the choices for you
It just means they don't want to be in a relationship with YOU. I've heard people say this to others before, and then, couple weeks later, you find them "dating" someone else.
It's cool, it's happened to me before... just dont take it personally. It's an easy way to let someone down... without just saying they aren't interested.10 Reply988 opinions shared on Relationships topic. It means their focus is elsewhere and they don't have the time to properly have relationships right now. It wouldn't be fair to the partner.

+1 yThe bottom line of that statement is that they aren't going to be in a relationship. The reasoning itself differs in various situations. Sometimes it means that they need time to themselves to heal their soul, mind, and heart. On the other hand it could me they don't want to or won't date you. Or they need to focus on something more important than romance such as education, work, family, etc.
00 ReplyThey're not ready to commit for some reason. They could be in a dark headspace, they could have a few girls they're hooking up with, they could still feel burnt by a recent relationship. It's really not a one answer fits all thing. There's lots of reasons to not be ready for a relationship.
