+1 yThe level of talent required to be a really, truly good singer is VERY high. (Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, etc)
The level of talent required to package yourself and get noticed however, is rather low (Nicky Minaj, Cardi B, etc)
So if they're trying to be a REAL singer and can't cut it, let them know. You're doing them a favor. But if they are passable, can rap, and their voice sounds ok when electronically manipulated, maybe they have a shot if they've got a good gimmick or they're really hot looking !! LOL10 Reply

2K opinions shared on Relationships topic. No. I wouldn't tell them that they are terrible. They'll eventually figure it out on their own. Others will tell them.
Everyone is entitled to have a hobby they are passionate about, even if they suck at it.
At most, I'd tell them to go practice in the garage or someplace where I didn't have to listen to it.
Now if they asked me if I thought they were good, I'd be honest and say something tactful but truthful.10 Reply

+1 yI would not say anything, I know a woman who got into a car accident and at first could not wash more than 2 dishes a week because of how bad her brain injury was and now sheβs published 16 books and won two awards for her publications and her books are sold at chapters which only accepts high end publications.

+1 yYes I'd tell them in the nicest possible way that maybe rapping/singing isn't the best choice for them!

which rap style do you want it?
- +1 y
@NathanDavis Well I wrote it about a year ago with the idea for it to be rapped to Gangsta's Paradise/Amish Paradise when I heard that Weird Al Yankovic was going to release new song parodies soon, but wasn't going to do any parodies about the pandemic.
- +1 y
@NYCQuestions1976 I've seen another rap/reconstruct here... was that you as well?
- +1 y
@NathanDavis Yes it should be me. When I first wrote this, I sent it to myself in a text message and an e-mail before posting it anywhere so I had a verifiable timestamp of the date of creation.
1.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. This is a hard question because you want for your partner to succeed I think what I would do first is I try to help them where they need help at I don't care what it is in life there is always a way you just have to be patient and find that way so I think I could try to help first until I just couldn't take it anymore LOL but no matter what we do in life even if we think we're good we can always get better nothing ever Remains the Same we have to change with it

+1 yIf I were dating a woman who wanted to be a singer, I would direct her towards taking professional lessons. That way she could figure out on her own if she were good enough. And even if someone were a very good singer, lessons are still a good idea to keep at your best.

+1 yI've learned over the years that my opinion is not necessarily the right answer! So, if the person had a reasonable amount of talent that i could help somehow, I'd surely stick with them. It's hard to watch someone fail at a dream, but it's a shared victory if they win at it!

m +1 yYes, I would say it... but I would not be crushing their dreams, I would be "cushioning" the tumble... lol
There's always a way to be more tactful, and besides... I would not say it to make them quit, if there's room for improvement then that's what you aim at.10 Reply - 3.9K opinions shared on Relationships topic.
+1 yMy ex and i used to wanna rap. I tried to tell him in the nicest way that he couldnt flow for shit. Like i could flow but i didn't have the voice for it. I prefer to ghostwrite and then he couldve wrapped it. But he didn't even have a voice appealing enough to wanna hear in a song. So i let him do his thing and embarrass himself. Took others to tell him he sucked for him to finally get it

now I really want to know about your stage/rap name... lol

@NathanDavis lol it was super corny, i rather not π€£ But it was funny that he and i had similar first names and when we met through rap, we realized our rap names were similar too. Its crazy

Try to help them improve but also encourage them to get a back up plan.
Ya know in case it don't work out.
Because it ain't gonna work out.
But gotta let them try so they got no regrets10 Reply
+1 yI would try to help them. Crushing dreams is not in my nature.
20 ReplyI'd tell them they sucked really badly, but that if this was truly their dream, they'd be willing to get better and put in the work to do so. So basically, option B.
10 ReplyI would be a simon cowell in that circumstance, But i would be caring about it. Sometimes people will approach it differently either be mad or go to a singing coach, or someone that could give them career advice in that field.
10 ReplySo I've had partners where we've at times communicated in terrible raps/songs because I've hoped/believed it was a joke... are you now telling me I could be a horrible person? lol

+1 yHow could you POSSIBLY be a terrible rapper? You don't need ANY talent for that!!
If she wanted to be a singer, I'd at least direct her to take lessons, first.10 Reply - 687 opinions shared on Relationships topic.

+1 yI'd probably try to rescue them from it (which is why they don't like me - they want to get fucked at my expense instead)
