Why do women do the same
I don't know I've never done that. I generally don't sleep with guys unless I want to. And I always expect sex the first time to be awkward simply because were getting to know each other. You need at least a couple of times to find a rhythm if you're not having multiple attempts in a night because I presume you both work, have a life etc.
Anyways I can only suggest taking the answer from anyone of these responders here. Since it's not something I do.

I have always slept with men I was dating, at least in my mind.
I didn't wake up one day and think hey he's cute let's get down and dirty.
I would get to know you, go out with you and if I felt like there was a connection sleep with the guy.
Some people would say that's where I make the mistake because there's not talk of being a thing first.
But I can't really say I know anyone past teenage years or from a religious group that waits to be called boyfriend and girlfriend before they sleep together.
Now that's not because I can't keep myself for that long.
But I just find generally if you don't put out guys attention disappears almost immediately. Instead of asking why not? They would rather ghost thinking that you just aren't interested. So it's kind of over before it's started. And the moment you tell a guy you want to wait until he's serious or your a item. They will do all they can to woo you then dump you when they get what they want. Like it's some challenge/game.
I find dating a minefield and it's a lot of hard work.
People tell me dating older is a waste of time but the men are more forthcoming with their intentions then younger men.
Whether its a fling or a relationship although you still get the odd one that thinks he's still got it!
