Why is it when a girl is seeing a guy she can't have guy friends but he can have female friends?

It's when she's with the wrong guy. A healthy relationship is never based on prohibitions. It doesn't matter whether the one imposing conditions like that is male or female--it's proof that they are not mature enough and far too insecure to ever risk becoming attached to them. Why would anyone want to be with someone who tells them what they can and can't do?

Erm who says she can't? A guy who is confident in himself and his g/f doesn't mind who she has as friends. Certainly doesn't bother me.. I know all of her male friends and have been to football matches with some of them.

Often a girl keeps guy friends as a back up to you or often guy friends are trying to get her pants. It's actually worth watching out for. Was with a girl years ago and this guy friend was actually undermining our relationship spreading around lies about me, manipulating fights to break us up waiting for an opportunity to pounce. Of course i told her this and she brushed it off as jealousy, while I was out of town he waited until she was drunk to try something. There are guys who use friendship as a way in and doesn't matter if she has a man.

@Flower7 generally not if he's with a girl. With guys it's not his girls that are friends she should worry about with him instead it's her own friends.
When a guy finds a really great girlfriend his buddies say themselves I wish I had a girlfriend like that but when a girl finds a great guy her friends say I wish I had that great guy

The majority of guy friends are interested in their female friends romantically or sexually. When there is a problem in the girl's current relationship they will often give self serving advice to try to deepen any problems in the relationship and drive her away from her current boyfriend, thinking the friend will then get to have her.

It's because most or all of her guy-friends actively want to fuck her, and will try anytime they get a slight chance. In the opposite scenario, most guys who have a female friend, the girl does NOT want to sleep with the guy, so it's unlikely to happen. That's an obvious difference in how the sexes work, but, yes, that creates a double-standard.

Honestly, because I know myself, and I know I won't look at another girl with last. And because I am guy I know guys (Mostly single) do look at 90% of girls as someone to potentially bang.

Not that I don't trust her, I don't trust them not to try something.

With all that being said I don't stop my girlfriend from having male friends.

Once you're married it's even worse, usually men wind up loosing all his friends as she forced them away.

In fact I'd call this stereotypical behavior of a wife.

I don't agree with any of the choices... when two people met and they totally vibe they usually do not have the time to infest in opposite sex because all their attention and effort goes into the relationship. I found women discourage female friends as much as guys frown on other guys hanging around.

My situation is the exact opposite the guy I am dating thinks it's ok to go spend time alone with his female friends that I am not allowed to know or meet ever. He doesn't see an issue with this and tells me I am ridiculous and irrational about it and he feels I am disrespectful of him and his female friends for getting upset by this. Everybody is datable irrespective of whether they are in relationship or not.

Same goes with women every guy is a datable an backup option depending on what they like about him they can switch partners.
