This question has been on my mind for while now... How does a modern man perceive the idea of providing for his wife/family?

Sorry, kinda long.

To start, I heard from some of my female friend, who is Pakistani-Indian, and in her culture 2022, it's still very normal to see men 100% financially providing for the wife and children, even if the wife does have a job or isn't fully a housewife. They say it gives them a great sense of pride and purpose to know they can care for their family.

I've honesty tried both, a 50/50 relationship (twice) years back and a more traditional one. In the 50/50 one, I felt we ended up like roomates very quickly. There always subtle competition to be giving your 50% and most things felt like a negotiation. Like I had to prove myself that I was equal because I paid for stuff. "Did I do my part of the chores? Did I pay half the bill? He took me out last week, so next time it's on me." They was a great guys but it sucked that I didn't see them "as a man" because I didn't "feel like a woman" in the relationship. As politically incorrect as it sounds. Like first grade where eveything was half to be fair and not step on any toes. Or like we were broke college students living together. It was fair, but I wasn't happy.

Much later I met another guy- my current husband. And he made it clear that wanted to provide for his partner. We got engaged quickly and I haven't touched a checkbook in years, he covers all the bills, holds doors, I had the choice to stay at home if I wanted. He treats me like a princess. We worked over the nitty gritty details beforehand. Like being very forward about any problems so we can set up "win-win" situations. Both of us feel respected and heard. I had never ever been this happy and at peace in a relationship. So more more romance, fun, and passion. I didn't feel as if I have to prove how "fair and equal" I am to my husband. He genuinely enjoys taking care of me. Of course I'm biased, but I'm asking this because is this just a standout case out or do other modern men feel similar? If you had the means, would you do this for a genuine woman?
