Why do I feel guilty because my wife is giving up an opportunity that would benefit her to spend time with me on my birthday?

So here is the story, my birthday was on the 14th, we are celebrating this weekend, I found out that she has a chance to go on a trip this weekend that will benefit her career. I'm all for it, but she says she's not going she would rather spend the time with me. She said it's her choice.. I told her she should go, that my birthday is just a day, it all returns to the fact that it's her choice. Why do I still feel guilty, like she's giving something up for me?

I think that comes naturally. Have you told her how you'd feel bad about it? Maybe celebrate on a different day?

Otherwise, just accept her gift of great love for you and don't feel bad about her decision because it's really not a sacrifice for her, she wants to be with you. Your time together is her first choice.

I think that is because you love her and that you just want the best for your wife and is natural to feel that way but you should ask her why and if there is a reason she is adamant ask her respectfully of course.

Don't feel bad. She values time with you more than her career. Expressing to her how you'd feel is the best you can do, if she doesn't want to go its her choice. Roll with it and be happy she loves you so much she's willing to make that trade.
