My boyfriend of 8 years still hangs out with the chick he was cheating on me with. I told him in order for me to get over the betrayal he should stop all contact with her but he won't. I explained how disrespected I felt by that and he only sees it his way and thinks it's my excuse to controll who he is friends with and not how the situation is emotionally affecting me.

Yes! Obviously it looks like he doesn’t respect your or your relationship, how would you know that he’s still not cheating on you with her behind your back?

I don’t think he’s willing to let her go bc he knows that you’re gonna stick around anyway, prove him wrong and please leave him. You deserve better, especially after 8 years together.
