    This is a fairly commonly asked question that's been circulating around GaG and I'll say what I've said before;

Interracial relationships are considered taboo or at best unusual, commonly if you live in a country that isn't as liberal or forwards thinking. This usually also includes religious countries, or places where people hold their family traditions and cultural values very dear to their hearts.

Most people believe that an interracial relationship won't work because if you marry someone outside of your caste, religion or race, they will never be able to understand your own religious/family values, and hence, the relationship won't work. This isn't always the case, obviously, but far be it for me to argue with a bunch of self entitled boomers otherwise, who think they know what's best for their kids just because they're older and they have more experience of life as compared to the younger generations, so it gives them the right to look down on them in these cases.

You could be of the same race, religion or caste and it would STILL not work if it isn't meant to. Your background doesn't have anything to do with that, at least that's what I believe, and I've seen plenty of interracial relationships; couples who are different skin colored and with different nationalities, but as long as you love each other enough and are ready to accept and adapt to one another's traditions and family values, you can do anything.

Uh, no. They were middle brown. English renaissance art is a lie. Blacks are a mutation in Ham's line. White is a mutation in Japeth's. The balance was lost.

@Sarahplus2 : Follow the genealogies of Ham, Shem, and Japeth. Also, read the research done by Bill Cooper, in his book "After the Flood." Noah's sons explain everything for ethnic skin color diversity to ancient Greek religion.

Because every race has a lot of baggage with it and they’re are still white supremacists out there. Like if a black woman and a white man get together people are going to look at her as a person who hasn’t been enough black love and look at him as a fetishizer. Other way around people are going to look at the black man as stupid given all the false sexual assault cases made against black men with white women and look at the woman as a bit odd for not choosing a white man. Black man Asian woman people are going to be like mmmm, wild, exotic. Other way around people are going to be like weird the most stereotypical asexual and the most stereotypically oversexed people. The list goes on.

Sounds like a problem with the public stereotyping interracial couples. The couples aren’t responsible for how others respond.

I'm just going to take a shot in the dark and assume everyone that claims it's not taboo, has never dealt with backlash dating interracially- in which case, you are very lucky and blessed.

It is still an issue, particularly for some races, and depending on where you live.
In the past I've had guys refuse to date me because of how their family would react. Or the looks I'd get when I go out with a guy of a different race.
Don't make me turn this reply into a mytake: we'll be here ALL night.

And while yes, interracial dating is more common and not as taboo as it once was, society as a whole needs to do better!

You don’t need validation from your family or the public for you to love someone. Sounds like you value what others think of your relationship more than how you value your own relationship. That’s really unhealthy. I suggest speaking to a therapist about this.

I’m currently in a healthy relationship with my black girlfriend. I’m a white man.
Both of our families accept our relationship. Though we’ve had PLENTY of racist interactions from the general public. Her and I are the least surprised when that happens. Taboo is the wrong word. Just because you don’t see it happen often doesn’t mean it’s taboo.

Because people make a big deal over it despite it not concerning them. Otherwise a person can fall for anyone of any walk of life. Its happened with me. Also, this might apply to desi culture as well since in certain cases eyebrows are raised and its not taken well if someone dates or married outside their ethnicities. It saddens me.

Racists are still peddling the "White" Replacement theory from a 100 years ago.

So it has seeped into mainstream discussion as a viable idea.

Are they? If everyone mated with someone of a different race, eventually certain races would no longer exist. Which is why it's natural to be attracted to your own race, we're self preserving beings. So it may be rare, but I wouldn't call it taboo

It's only taboo if a black person is involved.

Families don't want black people dating their kid or bringing another black family into theirs.

    People know it's true.

It’s taboo also in cultures where marriage is done within family/clans/groups and homogenous populations. Of course you do have elements of racism.
