When should you tell your date you have 90k of debt?

I have 90k of debt.

i am scared to date because I fear the moment I have to tell someone I have 90k of debt.

especially coz the debt was due to retarded stupid decisions which I don’t want to have to explain to someone why I did this or that.

at what stage of dating should I tell someone about my debt?

If you expect to be in a long term relationship, I think it's better to tell them fairly soon. You don't necessarily have to tell the the amount, but you can tell them you have a lot of debt. This is especially true if it directly affects your relationship and plans.

Responsibility with money is important. The big questions are, have you gotten your spending under control? What do you plan to do about the debt? How long will it take to deal with it? And how will this affect your relationship and plans?

I'm sure you realize that a lot of people will see this very negatively. At the very least they will want to know if this could be an ongoing problem.

I'd say when you're in the process of defining what your relationship is and what you and your potential suitor would each want from it.

Also, is the debt growing, expanding, or increasing? How long ago did you acquire and to whom do you owe it? Are you working on paying the debt off and are you making different decisions than what you had been before? Basically, can you demonstrate that you're at least working on getting things under control?

If you both are aiming at maintaining a long-term relationship, there will be a point when you need to tell this individual. There are obviously many forms of debt, some good and some bad. If there is a backstory that needs explaining, it's best to be open and honest. The right individual will often be willing to help you work through past problems and resolve that issue.

When it gets to where he loves you enough to want to marry you. I told my wife how much debt I was in and she kinda told me. If they love you, they will still stick with you. If they dont then you saved yourself grief. I could care less that my wife was in debt. I didn't marry her for money. That being said. Its not his business unless your going to get married at which point, dont hide it from him. Hope that helps

Why do you have to tell them at all? It is your problem not theirs. Besides 90K is not that big a deal today. After inflation it is really only about 50 grand now.
