Like I am a hopeless romantic. Want to be in a romantic relationship think it’s for others and not for me. Coping /Still wishing
Look man... listen and listen good. Learn from my mistake. Don't be too desperate. Go on YouTube and find what is your morals. Boundaries and what are your red flags. When I got into my first relationship I was DESPERATE. I ignored all the red flags and it bit me in the ass. Take this for example. First time I met my ex with her parents she was disrespectful towards her parents. What does that tell you? If she doesn't respect her parents how do I expect her to respect me? I ignored that red flag and she was toxic to me. Disrespected me and my family. Her own father called her a whore. I ignored that red flag. think nothing of it and in the end of our relationship she ends up cheating on me with 4 men. You might get in your feelings once a girl wants to be in a relationship with you but if you see the red flags don't make excuses and move on. Don't waste years out of your life just because you wanted to be in a relationship. If you are desperate you can lose 3 years with this girl 4 years with that girl when if you were smart dumped all the girls with too many red flags you can be in a healthy relationship that can last a life time. Don't dump a girl that has a red flag for example spending all her money and not paying her debt. Show her how. Help her grow. If she is willing to listen and learn and improve that's a good girl. It shows she can keep growing within the relationship.

+1 yI would prefer to be in a relationship, but not too hard. I feel lonely sometimes, but then I listen to songs and it works out. I also listen to audiobooks to hear some female voices and curb away my loneliness. I also thought of getting a smart speaker.
I would really like to have a girlfriend at the moment.

Reciprocated life is strengthening healing encouraging and invigorating. If you feel desperate it’s just a chemical reaction to a Bad situation. It’s ephemeral there’s no concrete power to it. I think it is a scapegoat used against otters by lazy people who don’t want to confront their own truth. Don’t waste time on people who make you feel desperate or who believe in desperation like some kind of endemic or dark lord. Just live your life positively graciously & with purpose. 💜

+1 yYeah I think it's possible. People think too much about it, try too hard, and are way too picky, which leads to desperation.

You don’t want to be in a relationship for the sake of romance or sex. You gotta be in it because it feels right and it’s mutual. When you’re not looking for love, it comes to you. Don’t seek it.
10 Reply7.2K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Sure, it's possible. In a lot of cases, it's painfully obvious to others when someone is too desperate for one. It can range from someone being afraid of being alone to not having dealt with previous emotional baggage developed from former relationships.

+1 y----------It doesn't matter. If a relationship is what you seek then you need to feel worthy about it. Not put out in the universe that it's not for you. Go after what you want.
10 Reply 3.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Being desperate is a turn-off for most people, even if they would otherwise find that person attractive. This is true of both men and women - desperation is almost universally unattractive.
There's nothing wrong with being romantic or desiring romance, but if you're a "hopeless romantic" it means that you've gone beyond reason, and that you have ungrounded, unrealistic expectations that no real person could ever meet. And because no one could meet those expectations, it means you'll never be happy and satisfied with anyone, so anyone who gets into a relationship with you is eventually going to get left behind when you decide you aren't happy, and you blame him and leave him. Heaven forbid he formalized the relationship with the state through marriage - now you can financially destroy him in the process too.
Our society encourages people to live at the extremes. You are either rich or poor, beautiful or ugly, a prude or a slut. You are either a fat whale, or you must be a vegan gym-rat that works out 3 hours a day. There is never any middle ground.
Except, middle ground is where most human happiness is actually found. No one wants to hear that, for some reason, but it's the truth. You can be romantic without having to take it to ridiculous lengths, and NOT taking it to ridiculous lengths doesn't mean the only other option is a complete lack of romance.
This is true for so many other things too. When you eat, you don't have to choose between gorging yourself or fasting - there is middle ground, where you can eat as much as you need without stuffing yourself or without going hungry. Extremes rarely bring happiness.

+1 yHopeless romanticism sucks. I feel in love with a woman but because of circumstances we couldnt be. I wrote her the most personal and poetic words that i gave to anyone in my life, letting her go being my final act of love to protect her future and happiness. It sucks to find that person you're truly passionate with, the "one", so to speak, and then let them go so they can be free and live on without you, leaving you a shattered mess. Life is truly evil sometimes.
As a hopeless romantic myself, I feel its true love when it hurts like hell...

Yes it’s possible especially if you have been single for too long and you already been in a relationship with someone , you start missing having that someone you use to have a deep connection with , why it’s hard for a lot of people to start over if they end up single again , I thought I would be married to my ex until the day I died but I was wrong and realized life is a journey , with all the people that live in this world finding that amazing person is hard to come by , But we keep going forward the best we can pretty much all we can really do , with hopes of finding someone that will love us back the same because without that what’s really the point of life? I believe Love exists just hard to find
20 ReplyWell yeah you can get to a point where you want something so much, that you'll take the first thing that looks good on the surface, but other than that it's human nature.. You just want that love and affection, the memories, growing with somebody.. Everybody wants it, some people just put it off better..

+1 yYes you can be and it is hard to not be and it shows. However that doesn't mean you are hopeless either, it means you will someday find the right person that fits perfectly, who is also a romantic.

And often times the people who are have not really done more personal growth and development, they just are so hungry for a relationship and to be loved, but aren’t thinking about what they can offer the other pperson.
Nothing wrong with wanting love and romance, but being desperate for a relationship is more often than not rooted in selfishness/personal desires.

+1 yyes because when desperate, you'll take what you find... that may not be good for you. but you gotta start somewhere and learn. hopefully you choose well and put in the work on yourself and relationship to make it good, as well respecting yourself and values.

+1 yYes, you can be, but that feeling quickly fades away, as if you get in a relationship you'll be asked:
To stop being a child
To grow up
To start earning the income/provide for the home
Being questioned: "all u think is sex?"
Argumenys start
And the list keeps going... so better single and happy than a , partner with Drama. 🤷♂️00 Reply Desperation can make things harder, like running into the wrong people, but it is only a feeling. Just relax a little and try to work on the rest of your life first. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be in a relationship, but don’t let it outweigh the rest of your life. After all, even after you enter into a relationship you will still have other things to do like chores or meal prep or meeting friends and family.

Anonymous(18-24)+1 yI completely understand tbh, I don’t feel complete without being in a relationship. Being single just feels weird. I love being loved and giving it back so yeah some could argue you’re desperate but I think you just want to be loved by someone badly deep down

Most definitely and after a long relationship and not in one, it does feel weird and lovey

Yes, ever heard of a rebound? Those are all desparation-based. And most end badly, because after the desparate person settles down and can think clearly, they realize they don't really like the person they have led along.
10 ReplyI don't know about desperate but one can certainly have given up on relationships in general, just like me. I gave up on that front long ago, nowadays I don't care about that at all. That has a bright side too - my money is mine only, not the gold digger's who'd pretend she likes me (or loves me) in order to get her hands on my money.
"Gold digger" is my synonym for "woman".

+1 yI think so. Some people literally have no life or hobbies outside of who they're currently sleeping with. Thus the potential relationships they do run into end up being short-lived for that very reason.

+1 yI don’t care how lonely I am I will never be desperate for a relationship. My 1st relationship which was years after I graduated from high school was a long distance relationship. I never been and will ever be desperate for sex either just to lose my virginity. If I have to die a virgin then it is what it is. At least I know what I wanted to do

+1 yDefinitely. Desperation fosters an air of codependency. Most healthy, normal people will avoid that. It’s important to be completely comfortable with yourself and with being single. Some say only then can you find meaningful connections.

+1 ySometimes, when someone hasn't been in a relationship for a really long time they can get desperate for love. Humans need love and human contact.
