If he is taken, in a relation or even dating, then you keep your fingers (and thoughts) off of this person.

You may think that his is not happy with his girlfriend but even in this case, it is no business of yours to attempt to get him away from her. Let him make this decision on his own and don't try to push him away from her or even to give him the idea that you are better for him than she is.

You "like" that guy but that does not mean that you love him. That is a big difference and by liking a person, you are miles away from love and all the constraints that brings along.
