How cruel is putting laxatives on your partner's food after a heated argument?

Way back in mid 2019, I recalled having a terrible stomachache and diarrhea for two days. My parents prepared my diet while I was resting. I was absent from work for a couple days and eventually got better. I thought it was just something greasy I ate or maybe I ate too much. I didn't think of anything else.

Now fast-forward to last week, for whatever reason I get contacted by my ex boyfriend because he needs to get rid of a guilt he's been having. We haven't spoken since breaking up months later after that year. He admitted to putting laxatives on my food because in anger after that heated argument, that he wasn't thinking at that moment. Needless to say, I hung up and blocked him. Honestly how cruel is that?

I'm actually creeped out to be honest. I wouldn't do that even to my worst enemy, let alone someone I once cared about, loved.

What he did is likely illegal too - it's a form of assault.
His guilt was enough for him to reach out to you.
Hanging up and blocking is... more or less reasonable... I think I would have handled it differently... by accepting his apology but being cold with him on the phone (and controlling my fury) and make the call short. THEN block him.

Harmless? I could've been hospitalized if it had been more serious. Not every body reacts the same. I wouldn't do that even if it were someone I hate.

This is what I was thinking. He's lucky I only had a stomacheache and diarrhea but my body could've reacted worse too. I feel so creeped out that I was once involved with such person that would do that. Even if I were very upset during an argument, I would've never done that to him.

I can't remember whether it was ExLax or Phenamint. But I suspected something was up from just the taste. Harmless but uncomfortable. Destroys trust. You know it works both ways. Jellies made from pears on a Bran Muffin is a little more sneaky.
