This comes from a Reddit post, which I highly doubt to be truthful, but that said I wouldn't believe him that it was an "accident".

I know a couple of twin sisters, and although they do have the stereotypical habit of keeping the same hair and sometimes wearing matching clothes, if you are acquainted with them you can easily pick who's who - even the kindergarten-aged son of one of them can tell who's mom and who's auntie - though they liked to prank him when he was younger.

I dated a twin, and it's true that you can tell them apart - WHEN you are awake and paying attention. If I went to sleep with my girlfriend, and in the middle of the night, she switched places with her sister, I probably wouldn't realize I was with the other twin for some time, more just because I wouldn't have expected her to be where her sister was and vice versa.

I could easily imagine a drunk guy - who wasn't working with full faculties - to confuse the two. And let's be real here too: the twin sister obviously took advantage of the situation. in my opinion, she's more to blame than he is, especially if she intentionally tried to trick him. She OBVIOUSLY knows he wasn't her boyfriend, while he very likely didn't know she wasn't his girlfriend.

As I said, I had no trouble telling the difference when I was wide awake. If I was really tired and groggy, they could have easily fooled me, because you DO have to be able to pay attention to the small details to tell them apart. Being really tired, or worse, being drunk, means your brain isn't likely working well enough for such small details to register.

It's not like he confused a 90 pound, 5' brunette with a 130-pound 5'7" blonde - there's no explaining that away, but identical twins? With the full participation of the other twin? Yes, that's well within the realm of possibility.

Yeah. I dated an identical twin. And to this day I'm not sure if I have slept with her sister or not and how many times.
