Why is my boyfriend obsessed with FB and getting likes on all his posts?

He called me from my workplace yesterday (on a very busy Tuesday) demanding why I haven't put likes on all his pictures. He also asked if I had read all his other FB posts he published on his profile.

I told him twice that I'm working, how he's acting weird with the ''wanting me to put likes on all his pictures'' and I'm hanging up right now because I'm busy. Then I hung up.

He's still upset that I haven't put likes on all his pictures. I'm finding this controlling and weird. Why is he obsessed with FB and getting likes on all his posts?

Some people just take that online stuff way too seriously. It's attached to their ego and their source of validation. We have attention whores all around us and my best guess is they have too much time on their hands... idle hands and all that, makes people weird about their likes on social media.

I'm was upset that he called me on my workplace for that. He knew very well I was working and can only answer briefly if it's an emergency or something very important.
I didn't like his tone of voice either, demanding me to put likes on all his pictures because that supposedly shows that I love him. I find that weird.

It is weird. Don't let yourself get gaslighted into thinking it's totally normal. Personally, if my partner did that, they'd find months of me ridiculing them for being a social media attention whore. I hate to say this, but if he's addicted to attention like that, then you might have greater issues with him in the future... cheating is like a go-to for attention whores. Just like any run-of-the-mill chick that complains about her man working all day while she sits there fumbling through her Instagram and taking selfies. You have an issue on your hands that usually I only see guys having with their chicks. Times are really changing... I'm too old for that shit. If he's logical he should understand you're at work, are busy, and can't be bothered to flip around on Facebook all day. I'd say he's thinking very emotionally though if he's basically acting like a chick and actually calling about something so petty.
