I find such questions borderline offensive because it implies there is something wrong with YOU if someone is "outside of your league". You won't be compatible with everyone you meet so why is this any different? I would approach it with the same skepticism I approach anyone.

Out of your league in terms of physical attractiveness? It could either mean that they have some underlying issues of that they are not shallow at all. Try to find what they are like and then decide whether to trust them or not.
