When I was thirteen to roughly twenty five years old, I wanted to be like one of those sitcom fathers and have a wife and a few kids. Now that I'm thirty two and still single, I really don't care anymore. I'd like a wife, at least but children are a big responsibility and with my recent bout of brain cancer, I don't think it's that important any more. I would hate to drop dead and leave her a widow and a mother.
The only rational reason I can see for me to marry would be to pass my assets on without the federal government and the state taking a cut. And as far as a partner goes, my record is under a year so "life" partner seems unlikely for me at my current level of maturity, or rather lack thereof.
@pupluv45 I think marriage being imposed legally is a rather unnatural concept. It's more religious and it should be imposed in a religious way. Being more flexible and less about courts and piece of paper
if marriage is nothing but just a piece of legal paper to you, then that means there is something wrong with you. Marriage is wayyyy more than just a piece of paper. It is two people becoming 1.
Maybe its because people don't understand what marriage entails which is why divorces happen so often nowadays. how can your marriage work if you just see it as an insignificant piece of paper?
@pupluv45 I agree it's more than a piece of paper. But some people make it that if you don't have that in writing you are not married. All the cohabitation couples are just married couples
when you are married to someone, you are responsible for paying for their debts incurred during the marriage. so that means, if your wife wants to take out 50k from the bank to start a business. you likely will have to pay back that debt if her business fails.
if your wife incurs medical bills and can't work, you likely will be responsible for paying it.
Often times, you will represent your wife when it comes to social matters. Such as if your wife can't show up for a family function where she has to deliver something, you will need to help her deliver it.
For example, if your wife pulls out a loan to start a business. her business fails and she can't repay her debt. the debt collector has the right to take away your rental property worth 500,000 to repay her debt.
as you can see, this is very far from just a roommate situation.

Personally, I disagree. If I have to earn and give her money I am šÆ in but this loan situation. No way because I know my uncle and his wife. His wife took loads to travel the world and he kept paying and paying and they are broke together. Aside from that if the wife asks for money on a monthly basis a certain acceptable amount, nothing wrong in that š I 100% approve it
This is something I see why marriages are not popular in US. I don't care how crazy the wife might be but this is plain stupid. I give her a certain fixed amount of money. I guess this is not a fair thing if US or Western Law is like this š
it doesn't matter if you agree or disagree. it the law that determines how marriages work. The debt collector has the RIGHT to take away any assets that you both as a couple own as a form of debt repayment.
so yes... the debt collector can take away your expensive car / house to pay for your wife's debts.
@pupluv45 look, may be in your country it's like that but in our country, wife only inherits some of the assets on the husband's death. Children get some too according to share. If a man takes loan, that doesn't fall on the wife or the children. Same for wife, if she takes a loan that won't be paid by husband unless she died. And I am pretty sure that if a person is thinking about using the spouse to take loans that's not a good person to be with be it husband or wife.
i want 2 adopt and foster.. maybe a few teens because they need homes as well. who ever has a big heart who loves animals and believes in a blended family.. iād be in love.
Yes. I'm in my mid 40's, add to that my introversion. Hence, noisy brats will drive me crazy. I would be open to helping her raise a 9 to 11 year old quitet, introverted daughter.
When I was like 6 my little brain wanted a husband, 5 kids, a dog, a cat, a parrot, a bunny, and a hamster/Ginny pig and a baby panther and a baby bearšššššš
I want a change in life with married life and if kids are meant to be then it will happen, if not then it will not happen. Right now I need a new housing because it's not working with me and my cousin.
4 5 6 are all different combination of life partner with no kids. 4 is partner but no kids, only pets - if that. 5 is no kids no pets no plants. 6 is partner & maybe plants
5 is partner bit
And I forgot to add both. l partner and kids- which I explained in the update. But that can go under ā otherā
I love kids, and I would love to have kids of my own with a man I loveā¦ but if we end up never having kids, I would be okay with that too, we can get kittens and puppies instead
There'd definitely be a benefit to having a faithful wife and enjoying marriage even without pregnancy, but it is kind of a natural step to (eventually) go further than just living together 🤷āāļø

A life partner would be great! No kids though. Open to pets. Preferably dogs. Dogs are wonderful
(I wonder what inspired this question lol š)
I hear you lol tho Iām discovering cats are actually cool, I never knew. Roosters rock ad well š
I'm actually allergic to cats lol. A recent development.
lol my biological mom was allergic so I thought I was but Iām not. But too late I already have Bella š
All of my family is allergic to cats. I was just a late bloomer with that issue

if thats the way you see it, please don't ever have children. I can already tell you would be a terrible parent.
I want somebody for life and absolutely no kids. But I like pets.

Iām married and have kids, but donāt see benefits of marriage
Do you mean marriage or of having a partner?
Marriage
Gotcha.
Lately I find legal implications of marriage to be futile.
People are married in my opinion the moment they have sex
if you don't see the benefits of marriage, it just means you have a bad husband. there are a lot of benefits to marriage- from workload to finances.

I said it because people make it out to be a piece of paper. Go to a court for marriage instead of seeing the spiritual or religious aspect of it

any money you earn, is also your wife's money.
any money that your wife earn, is also her money.
you both share everything under the law.

when you are married, there is no such thing as "your assets " or " my assets".
its "our assets".
you don't even know what marriage is.
@AmeerX
people who say that marriage is just a piece of paper are often the ones who have no clue what marriage is.

I want a life partner and I want kids, my own or foster or even a single mom will work.
Iād be up for fosters or single dad
I wish like minded people were able to sit in one place
im planning on being a single mom if i don't end up getting married too.
@pupluv45 it's cool š.
Iām wanting to get pregnant but I donāt want a man hanging around
I understand š
Thank you VIVANT
āØšāØ
haha i thought i was alone. I feel the same way.
I don't want marriage or kids
Marriages are monetary shams
And I can't stand kids
Marriage wasnāt really the question itās whether you want a partner š
Err? Other? I want a wife and about two kids, one is ok.
Wow! I didnāt realize I left out the main option. Not intentional lol sorry.
Hahaha, sorry, I'm not trying to call you out š
No itās good esp bc you were kind about it so I could get ahead of it on the updateā š¤ tho people are still complaining š
Haha, people always will š
i want 2 adopt and foster.. maybe a few teens because they need homes as well. who ever has a big heart who loves animals and believes in a blended family.. iād be in love.
i think some people wanna marry for wronh reasons such ad thry want a spouse to have a babt.
you marry someone because of love and not becauae yoy want your spouse to be a baby mamer... that's just wronh

I want a partner when Iām old enough and I think I want kids but Iām just not 100% sure yet

kids sound like an option more than a goal.
Well, I'm a widower of 69 years, and if I'd indeed love to find a new life partner, there's no point in having children ;0)
There'd definitely be a benefit to having a faithful wife and enjoying marriage even without pregnancy, but it is kind of a natural step to (eventually) go further than just living together 🤷āāļø
Na I want kids. I donāt think I would even bother finding a partner if kids werenāt on the table.
I want a life partner and childrenā¦ and to plant a few trees in our yard.
