Is it appropriate to comment on another with a "😍" on another girl's picture?

So I have a partner - we are not in a committed relationship but there are still no other people involved. We've been through a lot together, I moved countries and he still visited me. Always made time for me and the likes. Along the lines, we both started liking each other. But we can't be together because of certain circumstances (our age difference is a bit too much). But we still value each other and care deeply. He's mature, communicates well and understands me. Yesterday he devoted his entire day to me, asked me to be his valentine and wrote me a 7 page handwritten letter. To keep this short, he commented on some girl's picture with a "😍" , I'm not jealous. I can't tell if I'm feeling insecure but I do know that I feel like he didn't think of how I would feel when I would see it. We have a 2 weeks vacation upcoming in a week and a half. How do I communicate about this or do I just leave it and bring it up on the vacation?

It looks as this heart eyes emoji makes you uncertain and leaves you perplexed. Whatever the meaning of that emoji is, I have the feeling that it is something that he should not have used with somebody that is not too close to him. Do you know the deep meaning of this emoji? I am not a specialist since I never use that particular one but I would assume it is related to someone one loves. I could be wrong of course.

Now, since you are insecure about what position and attitude to adopt, I would strongly suggest you clear this issue before you go on vacation. Should there be tension between you and him, you can always cancel your vacation but if you address that topic while on vacation, the worst that can happen is that you ruin your holidays and/or that you have to terminate it early.

You owe it to yourself to clear this matter as quickly as possible before it bothers you even more. If you don't address this situation on a priority level, it will only eat you and you will not be able to enjoy your holidays because you will be thinking of it all the time. Now you have the physical distance that plays in your favor but when you are on a face to face basis, this may get a little more complicated. Good luck.

I would never leave something and certainly not bring it up on your holiday. That is the worst time to bring it up. If you end up in an argument, the whole vacation could be ruined. You never know how he is going to take it.

Now, I am not one to take emojis too seriously as far as interpretation. However, if you don't like that he is using that emoji to another girl, you need to communicate that to him. If you cannot talk to him about things, your relationship or whatever you are calling it is over.

That is the other part I am confused about. You say you are not in a committed relationship but going on vacation together? I get that you live in different countries. So, if this is more a friendship where you see each other occasionally, I would not suggest getting too upset about an emoji.

You aren't exclusive from what I can gather so what does it matter what he comments on other girls' photos? I am just a bit confused by this situation or not understanding correctly.

I can talk to him about anything and he always wants me to communicate. Yes we are going on a vacation together and it's not just friendship. It's more than that and less than a relationship I would say. And yup! I don't know why it matters🥲just hurts a bit because I know he wouldn't like it if I did it.

That is the best thing is to talk about it. Given the situation you are in where it is not relationship but more than friendship, you might want to really think if it is worth bringing up given that sort of grey area.

I would hate to see a vacation ruined and it end up not being worth mentioning. However, if it is weighing on your mind, you need to talk to him about it. Good luck and hope you two have a great holiday.
