What is the main distinction between liking someone and like seeing them?

I’ve realized in past crushes, I didn’t actually like them I liked seeing them and my urge or want to date them was like extremely low. I don't know if people have experienced that same thing but it’s like calling someone pretty/handsome and not wanting to date or sleep with them.
