If the same thing keeps getting bought up I would be inclined to believe that someone has big feelings or thoughts about that particular part of my past, and if that was the case they need to have a private conversation with me to help me understand what’s going on and how I can assist them to getting past it (but that’s if it was my partner) if it was other people I would ask if they are ok? No matter their response I would probably shut it down with a witty one liner like “lucky we don’t live in the past, either go along to get along or leave me be”
