Is it stupid of me to regret not having a promiscuous/sexual/romantic high school experience?

So as you can probably assume, I have super strict parents.

Before even going into high school, my mom laid out the rules for me. No boys, no parties, only straight A’s….. you get the whole gist.

I’m 21 now and I regret not having that rebellious/sexual experience in high school. Of course, I know that relationships like that wouldn’t go anywhere, but I feel like life should be about experiencing things…and I feel like I missed out on that

You didn't mis anything other than a bunch of drugs (natural or otherwise) and grief and misery, much of which, you aren't prepared to handle. You missed the opportunity to learna bout yourself, personalities, what works for you and what doesn't. That you can still learn.

It's simple, when you have kids, hopefully you know whom the father is and are married but ya never know, like someone else I know whose gonna be a single mom with no support that's pulling her hair out to try and figure out how to make everything work...

anyways, when you get there and the kids get to 13 or so, tell them to go mate to their hearts desires, for it is the hormones that are important, not getting financially setup in life so you lower your stress... it's about making yourself feel good. All the illegitimate kids without supportive mates they produce, you will care for and pay for and nurture and try to help them out.

As well, visit a hospital and watch videos of others whom went through hell because of the illnesses they contracted, multiple abortions, breakups and the such.

Then, you'll have a better perspective to value what your parents pushed you to adhere to, because it is important even if the kids don't appreciate it.

No you're not stupid or an idiot. I too had a plain vanilla high school. Looking back, it might have been nice if I became sexually active at a younger age. But I'm happy with who I am. I suggest you think about now, and the future... who you are and who you are going to be, rather than cringe about the past.

I wish I'd had one too. I didn't get a boyfriend or lose my virginity until my late teens. Indeed, I was starting to think it would never happen. So, have it now. Date nineteen year old's, sleep with them. You're only two years older. That's what I did. It helped and from there, I could move on.

Trrrrrrrrust me girl, you didn't miss out on anything. Those experiences SUCKED and I absolutely can't say I'm a more rounded person for getting romantically involved in highschool. Heck, I can't even say I gained much for being romantically involved in college.

I never used drugs when I was a kid, even though all my friends were doing it. I used to wonder what it was like but I wanted to be an Air Force pilot. I couldn't pass the physical but I don't think I missed out on much. I think not having that experience and instead have the experience of seeing it all from the outside was more beneficial.
You really did not miss much and probably missed a lot of heartbreak. You are the person you are today partially because you did not treat sex as something not serious. you

No, not from my POV, I wish I had had one or two of those experiences and I would not have been so stupid about sex and girl's bodies afterward. I regret that too, and cannot say that I did not try. I / she did not have a place to go to try playing/fucking after school.

No I think your parents raised you very well. I think it'll do you a world of good, to nm out you on that path for a better life. I can understand how you feel trust me insas sort of the same but at the same time a lotnofnmybfriends ended up getting some chick pregnant, I'm sure some STDs, etc. There's nothing glorious about that type of life, being ran through by numerous, sometimes random dudes. Asyou get older I think you'll appreciate it a little more. You're not much older than someone in high school, you could start dating now if you'd like. Inwouksnt recommend sleeping w numerous dudes to make up for what you feel as though you should have been doing in high school.

Incidentally, are you and your parents Asian? I was always amazed, given the "pressure cooker" treatment many of those kids (my friends) received growing up, that their suicide rates were not higher (although they *are* higher relative to other youth demographics already IIRC).

No, they are from Iran. Well technically I guess Iran is a part of southwest Asia, so they are considered Asian I guess. But they’re Iranian.

Well in fairness, if they are my age or older, they probably had to flee for their lives out of Iran when Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini took power, and they carry the scars of fleeing from that terror to this day. I did have some peers who had stories of fleeing out of Iran, and they were the stuff of nightmares. I guess you just have to forgive them and move on. They were not kind or empathetic raising you because they were too busy dealing with their own inner demons.

Your first step would be breaking free from the chains set to you by your strict parents. I did that as the first step towards claiming my autonomy.

Once you can sustain yourself without needing your parents, then you have the liberty to do whatever you want to do - provided you can pay for it and accept the possible consequences.

The cost is very big. It'll be more than worth it.
