What makes two sociable and outgoing people get shy and unable to speak to each other?

Why is it that two socially comfortable people with confidence and friends cannot look at each other or even muster up a conversation with each other.

Introverts can appear very outgoing and confident within their structure. Outside their structure, they are much different. If they feel they have more to lose, they may hold back from gambling on jeopardizing their situation. They might freely sing in the shower yet get stage fright on stage. Introverts tend to be more cautious than extroverts, so they're more likely to hold back when not assured of the results. All it takes for them to be functional again is to see signs the other is interested and sees value in the other person. A little reassurance and appreciation goes a long way.
