As a single girl, what do you think of the idea of taking your husband's last name?

I'm getting married next year and I'm planning on taking my partners last name. I'm very old school and traditional that's just who I am and I like it that way.

My dad's very proud of our last name even of its a odd one. Me and my sisters are the last of the family with the name due to having so many females in my family so they name will die out with me and my sisters but my partners last name sounds a lot more nicer than my own.

Without giving out my full name. My last name is related to being hard, strong, difficult etc not very feminine and it just doesn't sound right with the rest of my name.

My partners last name is his not even his real name as his dad was adopted and has no idea of who is dad is.

I never took my husbands name because I always figured we would divorce LOL I only married him because I figured he was the only guy who would, considering he was the only guy who ever liked me as more than a friend LOL
I am at the stage where I want to leave.. but also I don't see the point to.. since I will just be alone again and being lonely is worse than being miserable..

I don't know why.. but he loves me for some reason and will not leave me.. and he uses the kids to keep me trapped..

Don't need to. Depending on your country of origin taking on the guy's surname isn't that important or hyphenated.

My surname is extremely rare and powerful - as in attributed to kings, etc. of which dad is a relatively recent descendant of (within last 100-150 years) - and it'd be a loss to take on a guy's surname which may just be as common as grains of sand on beach.

Well I guess I'm the exception because I love my boyfriend and treat him like a King. I have so much respect for him and think he is an exceptional man. I would never do anything to mess up what we have. I've moved pass my daddy issues. Just because I hate him doesn't mean I hate all men or will treat men poorly because of my hatred for him.
