When unmarried people have children who supports them?

I see questions on this site about girls who are pregnant, not married and have boyfriends that will probably bail on them. Who supports the child?

I had a high school graduating class of over 400 students. Only one girl got pregnant. I guess times really have changed.

Usually the primary guardian and the birth or adopted parent of the child support the child financially and the primary guardian supports them procedurally too. If the birth or adopted parent who does not have custody cannot afford to pay their portion of the child's living fees, then it's paid for by the primary child guardian or the government welfare system in conjunction with the primary guardian who retains custody of the child.

Exactly why I will not have a kid with someone until I am at least engaged to them first and moved in together. The person that ends up taking care of the kid is usually the mother of that kid majority of the time

@exitseven I didn’t even know how to answer this because I don’t understand how people have kids with others with no prevalent commitment first. I’ve been talking about this topic in real life also for a couple of days and the idea of having my flesh combined with someone that hasn’t committed to me scares me

I am a lot older than you. Recently I read a question from a pregnant girl who was worried that nobody would want to date somebody who was pregnant. That was the story behind this question

@exitseven I’m not even sure why pregnant women worry about this. I had a friend that was getting laid while pregnant (no longer friends with her). I noticed the women with no committed partner worry about everything else but the baby’s existence

SOMETIMES, the girl's family, or even the father's parents, help to support the child. But most often, the mother applies for AFDC and Medicaid, and the taxpayers support that child.

I think that having a second child when your first child is receiving AFDC and Medicaid should be treated as child neglect.

The problem is the system gives them more money for each kid. My wife has a cousin who is a welfare queen. She has 7 kids from 6 different guys. When a kid turns 18 the state cuts the welfare so it is time for her to have another illegitimate kid. The father has a two family house and has a section 8 scam he is running to get money for his daughter living there. The last time I saw her was at someone's funeral. She was showing pictures of her last trip to Disneyworld.

I tried to get child support, but since I was working and not on welfare, they didn't go after him really.
Had I been on welfare they would have gone after him.
Since I didn't have parents to help me, it was up to me to have to work and spend a lot of my money on child care, which was expensive even in the old days.

My question is... Why does being married mean someone won't bail? Nothing is realistically that different.

At least if you are married you have some legal recourse to go to the courts and get child support.

Nope... The process is exactly the same. If not harder when married because you have to deal with divorce papers and such also.

To be honest, I don't think it's okay at all, but it's my own preference. If the conversation involves dating or a romantic relationship that violates the woman's marriage contract, that's generally considered unacceptable. In all cases, respect and honesty should form the basis of all communication. In general, situations like this happen a lot.

My sister has 3 kids all from the same dumb guy.
My parents supported them when my sister was a teen. Now she’s married with some dumb ass girl. I don’t have kids so I used to give my sister money every month when I had a job. So I think it’s family.

All my friends who got pregnant in high school/ right after high school had their parents support them and the baby too.

That's really sad but I've seen it happening a few times. In those cases the girls were supported by their families or they raised their children on their own.

If the woman isn't financially able to support herself and the baby, sometimes her parents give her money. If neither can do it , the taxpayers support them because she files for welfare.

There should be some contraption a girl has to wear if the guy is a bum that keeps her from spreading her legs, like a chastity belt. That way she can't get pregnant. But I guess when there's a will there will be a way.
