Is there a level of loving someone where its acceptable to forgive them after cheating on you?

It's not about a level of loving someone. It's about taking into account all aspects of the person, the relationship, your history together and as individuals with past experiences, and how they have treated you in totality. People say this all the time, that if they really love you they won't cheat, but lots of people throughout history who loved their partner dearly have also cheated. Forgiveness is forgiveness. It is a choice. No one has the right to openly shame others for staying in a relationship. It's not anyone else's relationship or life. People hate the betrayal so much, they project their own feelings of feeling disrespected onto other people's relationships. Sometimes cheating is a careless and impulsive and reckless and selfish act, and they don't have remorse. Sometimes there are details and circumstances leading up to it that only the couple themselves knows, and they want to do everything they can to regain their partner's trust. Don't let peer pressure and insults sway what only you know. 'Once a cheater, always a cheater' is also not true. It's something people say to try to create an iron clad, red flag rule so they will never get hurt again. But people will hurt others. If not this way, then another way. No one's perfect, everyone's fallible, and people have created an intolerant, cancel culture society now, where people are discarded and thrown in the trash for even the smallest of infractions or misinterpretations. Relationships have always been hard. People have always suffered and been hurt and had heartache. No forgiveness equals no relationships, which is where we are heading as a society.

No! You can't measure love - at what point could you prove it's enough? You can't. But cheating isn't just about forgiving a cheater. They broke a trust with another person that cannot ever be mended again. There will always be a little 🐦 bird inside your brain that knows this person has hurt you by cheating and can do it again the next time - if you find out about it.
It's just never the same between the original lovers. Another person was allowed inside your love relationship by your liver, breaking it in two. 💔

I think cheating at any level is unacceptable. Sometimes when kids are involved the waters get a bit muddy and you have to evaluate what it means to you and if you can truly get over the betrayal. But a loss of trust is really really hard to get over and build back. It will always haunt you with insecurity and resentment

joint response: that comes down to you and your own moral code. I would never forgive my wife if she cheated. and I would never forgive my husband if he cheated. the whole point of us being together is because we are 1. that means we are not intimate with anyone else

I’ve learn to realise that cheating doesn’t mean they don’t love you, people cheat for 100s of different reasons. People say you can’t love and cheat, because it usually the ones that have been hurt saying that statement. People do love you, and cheat on you. The cheating doesn’t make them love you less, so don’t chuck evedytiing away for something you can sit and figure out.

Personally if I got cheated on all that trust care and concern I had for that person would go down the drain immediately. I would walk away block them on everything and just move on with my life I don't feel like wasting my time on bs drama. Not calling your situation that just in general that's how I would feel about it

Sorry there's no level of love that overrides being cheated on by someone who is supposed to be in love with you, If they were truly in love with you they would not have cheated. If you stay with someone whose cheated on you you have no self respect.

I forgave my wife. but she’s my ex wife now id never be able to trust her again.

I could always forgive if someone cheated on me, it has not happened before so I can tell you 100... but I am 99% I would forgive, yes

however, the relationship would be ultimately over, and done... no going back

Yes, I will forgive. But that does not mean the romantic relationship will survive. It will not. Forgiving means releasing the guilt from a prior offense, not putting yourself in the position to suffer the offense again.

Forgiveness is always acceptable, but shouldn't be expected. I mean nobody should ever tell you it's not acceptable for you to forgive someone. Just like nobody should ever pressure you to forgive someone. It's entirely up to you.
