For whatever reason?
We were with my half-sister and while chatting the topic came out as a joke. She said she would do one of necessary, I think that's unnecessary because she has the same eyes as my father.

Everyone should. Why? Because as a father believing my children are mine and having proof they are mine are 2 entirely different things. A woman always knows the kids are hers she birthed them. She also knows the kids are the fathers. The father can know it in the sense she hasn't been with someone else but it is entirely something different to see the "this child and you share the same dna" turning that belief knowledge into proved knowledge. My wife knows this and insisted on getting the paternity test because she knows i don't like believing things (i am a scientist) so she wanted me to have the proof even though we both knew they were mine cause how could they not be we have only ever been with each other.
Yeah, I would. I mean, given what I'm like, it's unlikely to happen, but if I ever get to have a kid, I want to be sure it's my own kid. The timespan to deny paternity is too short to take risks, if the relationship went downhill (and I got insane enough to actually allow a state-sanctioned parody of marriage), I don't want to pay any alimony for a child that is not mine. On the other hand, if everything goes well, it will be insanely cool to have a proof all my children are actually mine. It's like leaving behind some kind of legacy of high moral integrity. And if anyone was ever to suggest that some of my children are not mine, I'd have the perfect asset at hand to shut their foul mouth for good.
Yes, happily.
I know I am my parents’ child for sure, I would just like to know my genetic makeup, because Georgians seem to have a mixed origin,
Some of my family members look Slavic, some look Mediterranean and Some look slightly Asian. So, I would like to know my genetic makeup.
I am certain that my parents are my biological parents. Moreover, my little sister looks very similar to me.
But even if I thought that they weren't I still wouldn't want to.
They are my parents regardless of anything.
It wouldn't even matter to me.

In the legal arena, DNA tests are commonly used in two circumstances.
1. Paternity cases, where an unmarried mother is seeking child support and the putative father denies paternity.
2. Probate cases in which someone claims to be the illegitimate child of the decedent, but paternity was not established while the decedent was alive.
I don’t think i will ever confront either of those circumstances.
I've done two DNA tests.
One, a long time ago, because my then-wife and I were having trouble having kids. The test results helped us, and we went on to have 3 healthy children, 2 boys and 1 girl.
More recently, I did a genealogy DNA test. The results were pretty much what I already knew. As the family genealogist, I have lots of records of my ancestors.
Only if it meant I'd inherit a huge estate.
I would, and I think they should be legally required when any child is born. There is a lot of paternity fraud, more than most people realize. My uncle, who is only six years older than me, suspected his second child was not actually his. His wife is dark skinned and their first daughter was as well. The second daughter was fair skin with light hair and blue eyes. It took him fours years to muster up the courage to ask for a paternity test, and when he did she refused and wouldn't allow their daughter to be tested. At that point he was pretty sure he was not the father and had a pretty good idea who it was. He had to get a court order for it but he was eventually successful and it was proven the younger daugher was not his. They are divorced now but he shares custody and still financially supports both kids. Anyway, I think DNA tests are a good thing.
Id do one , I have done one for ancestry ,
I'd like to do one with my second daughter in mind , but I could never broach the topic with her , just couldn't do it.
The ancestry one was worth it , and I did find a lost cousin , but I did it more for following generations.
I got mine sequenced as did my parents. The lab shut down before my sister sent in a sample. I found out drinking is a bigger problem for me than it is for others. My parents are the same. My sister still drinks because she doesn't have proof she has the same problem.
I have done one for genealogy perposes. It confirmed some of the things I had already researched, but threw up a few things I didn't know.
I've done plenty of them in the laboratory. I wouldn't send my DNA to a company like 23andMe that catalogs people's DNA and actively utilizes their DNA in a war against them, but if I want to run a test, I will do it myself.
A DNA test will not only point to you immediate family, but to ancestors 100’s of years ago. Gives you the opportunity to know where your ancestors lived. I did mine years ago and have traced mine back to the 1500’s in England.
Hell no, not having my dna stored in a database.
No, the government already has my fingerprints. I do not want them to have my DNA.
@exitseven
I saw something about what those places you send your DNA to, and it's after the test that people don't know about. I think they send it off to another company and they do something to use to their advantage and the person never knows what happened to their sample.
I'm getting 1/2 heimers disease and can't remember what they do with the samples after they did the report for the client. I could look it up but I am too tired. Sorry.
I have a friend whose daughter looks a lot like me, but I never touched the mom and am sterile, so I would not assume much from appearance.
I come from a two parent home so I’m guessing it would be to trace my roots in this case
Sure, I mean it always looks suspicious if you say no. But I'm not answering any more questions until my lawyer gets here.
I might find out who my maternal great grandfather was.
Never cared to do them to be honest. I don't have much care or feelings for most of my family anyway.
I figure sooner or later someone is gonna do a DNA test and find out I was at the murder scene... and may have done the deed.
YES A LONG TIME AGO
I would and probably will.
for health reasons, sure
I did one. It came out positive.
yea. i want to know how far my lineage goes back, because my blodline wil end when i die.
Curious about heritage
Sure; if I thought my wife had cheated on me.
not yet did that DNA test..
Yeah, sure
Depends on the situation
Why not?
