Why would anyone cheat with a sibling's spouse?

I was reading on reddit about a man that finds out his then girlfriend cheated with his younger boyfriend. Not just that but then the younger brother gets engaged to her, to the cheater.

Their parents are dead and the guy was like a father figure to his little brother ( of 8 years younger) when he was a kid. Then that's how he repays him. Obviously the man disowns him and refuses to forgive because there hasn't been any real change in him and he still proposed to the cheater. Supposedly the younger brother is remorseful and the guy is treating him like he never existed. In other story, it was about a young woman that had an affair with her older sister's husband and wants to be forgiven.

It's so obviously cheating with a sibling's partner or spouse will get you disowned by them immediately. So why would anyone be an idiot and still risk not only destroying a relationship or marriage but also the relationship with their own blood?

Because they're selfish and gross. Even dogs are more loyal than them, so it should tell you anything you need to know if someone is worth less than a dog
