Do you think a cheater should be held responsible if the person commit suicide?

Obviously the person likely had previous mental illnesses if they were able to commit suicide for that reason. Yet, we can't ignore how they reacted upon finding out they got betrayed. I read about a man that killed himself after finding out after 30 years of marriage that none of his adult children were his.

Just like when some bullied students commit suicide after getting bullied nonstoppable, if you cheat on someone and they commit sucide as a result, should you be held criminally responsible for that? You caused them a heartheart, enough for them to kill themselves.

It is not enough to say that "but for the infidelity, he would not have committed suicide." Yo could also say "if Alois Hitler and his wife, Klara Pölzl, had not conceived Adolf, World War II would not have occurred."

Of course it is appealing to punish the unfaithful spouse, but most of the faithful spouses of unfaithful partners do not commit suicide. Shouldn't ALL unfaithful partners be punished?

Suppose we are dating and I say horrible things to you (e. g., your boobs are so small you look like a boy) but I am not unfaithful. Suppose you get depressed and commit suicide. Should I be punished even though I was faithful to you?

I think cheaters are irresponsible. It's the nature of cheating. I'd personally assign to them being a causal a apsect in the end result. Though I wouldn't blame anyone for the choices others make, excepting in that they allowed or somehow contributed to them happening.

Legally though, no I don't think they should be held accountable. Excepting for such matters as Alomony.
