If any of my loved ones was on the ship and sinking I'd to my best to help keep the ship afloat... it's just who I am.

But... if the person is the one who wreaked the ship in the first place, having no intention to make it safely to the shore, I would have to consider the alternative, knowing that I do have other loved ones under my care.

I've lived 28 years so far and have worked real hard on my integrity yet there’s a fear that could overwhelm anyone in the worst of moments. That is my fear to think about if I will have a backbone and not cower or run away.
With love I think things may be looking good though because my dad something unforgivable I didn't think he was capable of right before I graduated and couldn’t find it anywhere in ny heart to forgive him or even look at him. My sister had moved out and then my mom shortly after and I was packing to move a day or two later until I felt something tugging my heart string, he was helpless and I knew he was broken. I knew he could not be left alone. People aren’t perfect. People make mistakes, sometimes they’re not easy ones to forgive either. Buy every storm runs out of rain. And this too shall pass. This is a bit more than black or white. I'm in my relationship for the long haul so I wouldn't leave but I also don't believe there is such a thing as an inability to get back up. It just might be harder than you'd like but it can always be done. Now if it is the partner that has become self destructive and is not willing to address the problem and change their behaviour, then I would try to help but I would not be willing to crash along with them. Many things are beyond our control, but what we can control is how we react to them. As long as we are still partners with mutual respect for each other, I'm not going anywhere. If my partner stops valuing me or my opinion and insists on running headlong into disaster that could be avoided, I would have no choice but leave before crashing with them.

Much more of a challenge if not working together for whatever reason so by praying first for each other it provides better awareness and understanding to take proper direction in a time like this

I've seen often that someone is caught up with some dark clouds and really going through it much worse than I could comprehend (my parents separated for several reasons when i was finishing school)

We shouldn't jump immediately but seek to understand and at least help leave them on solid ground before ultimately jumping. Now theyre back together healing due to some time and heeding wisdom to remove the water that so badly overwhelmed them
